If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."
There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

When I was homeless in 2019, the Salvation Army shelter refused to give me a bed (even though they were available), because I was on immunosuppressant meds and they didn’t want to be responsible or liable if I got more sick or died on premises. They’d rather I die on the street.

News outlets do, in fact, need readers to watch the watchdogs. And readers don't have many tools, especially at a paper that refuses to have a public editor like the NYT or one where the owner is hellbent on using the paper to cozy up to power, as at the WaPo.
