Honestly believe that using 'alpha' like this is a foolproof Shibboleth for douchebaggery.

Normal human beings in finance (all three of them) do not do this.
*maximum alpha at 1.25x speed* continuously lives on in my head, unfortunately.

This is the finest finance chart ever made
So basically if the government does end up backstopping OpenAI borrowing as their CFO suggested yesterday, the three possible outcomes for a new GSE issuing newfangled MBS are -- Manna Based Securities, Meme Based Securities, and Matrix Based Securities.

"significant engineering challenges remain, such as thermal management"

So -- the biggest challenge of GPUs in space (bar getting them up there) is still a "significant engineering challenge"? No shit

FFS, "debate" isn't just you getting to say whatever you like without being challenged.

Simon Harris has the right to make an ass of himself with ill-considered comments that will provide grist to the mill of racists, as he has done.

But the left also has the right to call him out for doing so.
Listening to Tánaiste Simon Harris's comments on the way into Cabinet this morning - accusing parties on the left of the 'extraordinary' move of 'trying to shut down debate' on immigration.

Oh wow, it's bad quantum takes all round this week
I’ve always thought the problem with quantum computers is that they don’t cost nearly enough money (ideally, at least a million dollars per kg!), and should experience heavy vibrations and crushing G-forces after being calibrated. ⚛️🧪

This matches my thoughts also. Social media has become a terrible mistake
I'm definitely becoming a year zero guy for social media. shut it the fuck down. go back to RSS feeds and vbulletin forums. it should be more costly run a social media platform, doing so should involve more legal exposure, and it should be more difficult to access them.

The Irish Times reported on Friday night, an hour after polls closed: "Historic low turnout in presidential election likely". When the votes were counted, it turned out turnout was actually up vs 2018.
Going back through the history of the Irish presidency, it's mad how many elections went uncontested. Trying to imagine the uproar had Humphreys stood down before the election and Connolly won by default, when actually there's historical precedent for it lol.

Yes, the people have spoken, but they have said the wrong thing, so we need to rewrite the constitution to make it easier for far-right grifters to reach the presidency without ever running for so much as a council seat
Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said the Oireachtas may have to look at changing the process by which a person gets on the ballot in presidential elections, which he described as "restrictive".
