For the last video of the year, I tested Dell's "Dell Pro Max with GB10" (rolls right off the tongue, that).

Dell sent two and mentioned they aren't gaming boxes, so maybe don't focus on that in a review. So guess what I did first ;)

Bluey performed admirably, but I think was enjoying a little time alone on the kitchen floor, away from the mayhem.

Here's the wash cycle of my broken Bosch 500 series dishwasher.

It's fixed now (pump was making grinding noises and was very weak), but this is like strike 7 for this dumb appliance.

Might have to make another video about it sometime.

to save any of y'all trying the new @jeffgeerling.com super rdma jaccl magic and you only have the thunderbolt 4?

don't bother, you need thunderbolt 5.

however you can still use ring mode though, which as you can see isn't so shabby at 37.9 Gbit/s of old fashioned TCP over thunderbolt 4!

Wind storms last week set in motion disaster recovery plans at NIST, and almost took out a primary time reference: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRB7...

I'm sure the folks at NIST running the Internet's time clocks were feeling the pressure, and they handled it well.

Thanks to WLAN Pi for shipping a couple of their WLAN Pi Go units for testing — a CM4-based mobile WiFi analysis tool. Over on Geerling Engineering, here's our take: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYdV...

FYI the time was only ever off by 5μs, so they kept the NTP servers running, thanks to some heroics by staff who remained onsite during the wind storms.

Still have to deal with the clock drift, but seems like crisis averted for now! groups.google.com/a/list.nist....

Working on PTP, NTP, GPS, PPS, and Sync-E support on the Switchberry with a couple other timing-folk at Time Appliances; today's task was assembling the 3D printed case for the first time (design by JaredC01, who's been a great help!) www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWii...

Now's a good time to mention this neat little box I've been helping with...

It's not yet ready for prime time, but we have GPS, PPS, and NTP, working on SyncE

What I found surprised me. This isn't as insane as you think it is...

A good time to check on holdover clock, and maybe consider running your own NTP infrastructure in house, so you can easily switch references when needed.
We're gonna be leaning on @jeffgeerling.com for accurate time in 2026 at this rate.
Due to a windstorm-related utility power outage at the NIST, time may soon be destroyed

I'm testing 1.5 TB of VRAM on a cluster of Mac Studios, courtesy of RDMA support in macOS 26.2, and Exo Labs' new version of Exo (released under the OSS Apache 2.0 license today).

The CM0 is a Pi Zero 2 W, except in stamp form, with castellated edges, so it's easier to pick and place and solder to another PCB.

It's only being sold in China currently, for integration into OEM products.

Now that Nvidia GPUs run on the Raspberry Pi, I want to see if they're good for Jellyfin transcoding (e.g. take your old 3060 and throw it on a Pi for a little #homelab media server...). www.jeffgeerling.com/blog/2025/be...

TIL (after being forced to use a mouse for a bit) you can hold Shift to scroll horizontally with a mouse scroll wheel in any application on macOS. Who knew?!

Hello there, Raspberry Pi CM0. EDAtec sent this to me from China. Unfortunately you can't get these anywhere else! It's basically a Pi Zero 2 W, but in SoM form. And it has castellated edges so it can be pick 'n placed right onto PCBs.

This is gonna sound a little strange, but is polyimide tape safe for someone to have on their tongue for a little bit of time? Hypothetically, I mean.

This hypothetical scenario doesn't involve swallowing the polyimide, of course.

Aww, I was hoping the more artsy thumbs would win. At least with the initial video audience, it looks like me in the thumbnail helps.

I may re-run the test again next week, once the video's out in 'general' recommendations, and the main audience has already seen it

One thing holding me back from adopting a mechanical keyboard was the lack of Touch ID.

I fixed that problem and documented the whole process in this video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzB6...

But now, I wonder: why doesn't Apple sell an external Touch ID sensor?
Why doesn't Apple make this?
