very good explanation of why not to feed images into an image generator, especially when memorializing children after a devastating tragedy.

better not to use image generators at all.

So when thousands of women (and children) were being duplicated--including in non-consensual AI porn--it was no big deal. But it took "only a 15-sec clip" of these two famous white men to draw outrage and fear. Gotcha. Cool cool.
It took only a 15-second clip of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt duking it out on a crumbling rooftop — made by A.I. with a two-sentence prompt and the click of a button — to draw swift outrage, and sizable fear, from Hollywood.

"It’s nothing short of terrifying," one scriptwriter said.
Why an A.I. Video of Tom Cruise Battling Brad Pitt Spooked Hollywood
A 15-second clip created by an artificial intelligence tool owned by the Chinese technology company ByteDance appears more cinematic than anything so far.

This post is really taking off. I know the Thanksgiving detail is grabbing, but I would encourage everyone to also read the full article about this family’s struggle at Dilley.

They’ve been locked up for 130+ days.

I spent hours with them on Zoom this week, and their story deserves to be heard.
'Even in Russia, they don't treat children like this': A family's nightmare in ICE detention
A Russian couple and their children sought asylum in the U.S. In a Texas detention center, they say they endured worms in the food and hourslong waits for medicine.

That is fucking horrendous
On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.

The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.

But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.

It would be nice if the Canadian government made these glasses illegal because they're being explicitly designed for pervs and stalkers.
But they've got AI in them, so instead the Liberals will probably be subsidizing them.
Meta's plan for launching glasses that people can use to secretly identify strangers on the street is to do it "during a dynamic political environment" when people who care about why that's bad are "focused on other concerns."

So glad our culture and news media spent decades responding to people like this with "what would make you say that," and "let's debate this respectfully," and "why do these ideas resonate with people," and "let's hear him out," and "wow so provocative," instead of "man, shut the fuck up."
Fuentes then fantasizes about “breeding gulags”: “So just like Hitler imprisoned Gypsies, Jews, communists, you know, all of his political rivals, we have to do the same thing with women… They go to the breeding gulags. The good ones will be liberated. The bad ones will toil in the mines forever.”

One of the hateful OneBC MLAs is spreading rumours about the shooter. Using a tragedy like this to push an ideological agenda is disgusting and should be disqualifying for public office. #BCPoli
Officials have not released information on the identity of the shooter, nor have they speculated on a motive. What matters is there are many people grieving who need support, not performative crap to justify an ideological position.

Lots of people are as skilled as Mark Zuckerberg.
But few are willing to just ignore all privacy principles to fuck their entire userbase, and their country, for money.
I can think of other people whose success is arbitrary.
