Why do so many religious Jews support Trump? Do they see him as a "good bully"? My thoughts here: open.substack.com/pub/chayashu...

I don't believe it happened but I can't wait to hear his denials.
I, too, was skeptical of the rumor that Donald Trump sucked Bill Clinton's dick. Surely he would see that as debasing, right?

But then I rewatch any video of Trump and Putin and think, oh yeah, wait, Trump *loves* groveling before someone he perceives as more powerful.

So I have a new theory...

I don't do thanksgiving dinner, but as someone who cooks Shabbos every week and elaborate Yom Tov meals, this advice is spot on. Stick to the old staples when you're serving a big meal with lots of company. Save your experimentation for off-peak times with lower stakes if the dish fails.
I sometimes wonder who the target audience is forThanksgiving meal recipe marketing emails from news organizations. A day with like 6 dishes in process at once is not a great time to try a new recipe, and someone doing things for the first time is less likely to try the elaborate recipes they send.

Especially since SCOTUS ruled that being detained just on basis of your skin color is no big deal and easily rectified
The end of your thought experiment is that rich, white, influential locals would revolt as soon as their precious son was stopped in the drinking crackdown. With brown immigrants most of those supporters are buffered from the problem and don’t object.
November 16, 2025 at 3:17 PM
Very good analogy. Let's add that the cops enforcing underage drinking are very poorly trained, are alcoholics themselves, do not wear badges, wear face masks, and can be easily impersonated by other criminals.
IOW, the only reason it would make sense to do that is if you didn't give a damn about overall crime rates, but you really hated young people. Replace "young people" with "immigrants" in this thought experiment and all three things are happening now. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/16/u...

"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

They don't get that resources used for immigration enforcement are taken from others like SNAP, housing and special education. They think immigrants are taking their services. They don't realize that if immigrants were just left alone there would be MORE money to fund programs for citizens.
Also most voters have just never thought remotely seriously about policy. “Should we get rid of illegal immigrants? Well, of course; they’re illegal!” There’s nothing deeper than that going on until they start seeing what that actually entails.
Some Dems and pundits overread the significance of Trump's win. They looked at dissatisfaction with the border and discerned a seismic cultural reaction to immigration levels inside the country. The former was real. The latter is a mirage.

Well, the lesson of the Epstein files and the Panama Papers is virtually the same: elites, particularly rich and powerful men, do the most heinous shit on the regular and experience zero consequences.

It would be better to spend those resources replacing Republicans with Democrats instead of replacing Democrats with other Democrats so we can get majorities in Congress so we’re not forced to take votes like this.
It's also time to get real primary challenges against Senators.

It's like being the sane parent in an insane custody battle... Either way the kids will be hurt, you're just trying to make it hurt less and hope that one day they realize that.
All judgments of the effectiveness of midterms strategy must be considered in the context of Trump doing a YMCA dance party while under federal indictment & winning the popular vote
Yes - this is a loss because Democrats have now signed on to ACA cuts as a complicit party and once again made it a less effective issue for the mid terms

States not governed by sociopaths?
Some other states that appear to have gotten benefits out (thanks to those sending me links): North Carolina, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Dakota, Kansas.
So, not exclusively Dem-helmed/blue states.

This is exactly how sadopopulism works.
"How can we give benefits to illegals when you have citizens who are suffering?"
Ok great. Let's end their suffering.
NO!
Meanwhile all our resources go towards flashy immigration raids while the people... are still suffering.
The entire project here is so cynical. "We have to end foreign aid until we fix unemployment and bad schools!"

ok are you working to fix those problems?

"No."

His schtick (especially after 10 years) works only on extremely uninformed and unintelligent people. That's what's so sad about all this. I would have never believed so many people would fall for this not once but twice.
What’s so unusual about Donald Trump is the number of ways he’s different to any other high ranking person. He doesn’t have management skills, and he doesn’t have executive leadership skills. He has a genius for marketing and self promotion, and a clear eye for power and instinctive risk calculation

I really, really wish this were true but on right leaning sites they're either making jokes, celebrating, or claiming that Trump is merely "improving" the space and Dems are overreacting as usual.
I think the ballroom story is gonna mushroom into a much much much much bigger thing. I see the visceral reaction people have towards the videos.

Looks as if Trump is saying no Democrat will be allowed to win another national election—and he will use the FBI, the DOJ, and the CIA to make sure of that. This is a full-scale attack on American democracy, and every Republican, CEO, and conservative mouthpiece who doesn't object is complicit.
Trump: "We can never let what happened in the 2020 election happen again. We just can't let that happen. I know Kash is working on it, everybody is working on it. And certainly Tulsi is working on it. We can't let that happen again to our country."
