Hell everyone! My name is JD and I am a comic book writer, Media/Communication Scholar, and a big ole fan of Comics, music (especially metal) and games (video, table top, tcg and role-playing).

My main gig at a refugee non-profit keeps me super busy, but be on the lookout for cool stuff in 2025!

museums are cool because the people who work there are like look at this neat thing and you're like wow that is neat and you just do it over and over again until it is time to go

I often see people being like “why aren’t Americans in the streets” but like we are. Often. Are you just mad because things still suck? We are too that’s like one of the main things we’re mad about

Happy MLK day, gang! Martin was a Democratic Socialist, anti-imperialist, anti-capitalist, thought white moderates were the bane of Black existence, and died on a trip to support a sanitation workers' strike!

Beware his sanitized and sanded-down edit!
Happy MLK Day!

400 pages is an opus and I'd barely recommend 100 pages let alone 400 without substantial financial backing
anybody who suggests I self publish a 400-page graphic novel gets blocked 😌

Fun fact: Black Panthers doing perfectly legal (at the time) open carry in CA in the 1960s spurred then-Governor Reagan to sign the Mulford Act into law in 1965, prohibiting it.

These people have no consistent politics outside a desperate, leering need to keep hold of power and privilege.

From a Minnesotan: a hearty HELL NO to this. This man is a professional political consultant in DC raising $$ for a political party. There are endless better places to donate to actually help people here suffering and fighting against this nazi invasion. Here’s a start:

not to be mercenary about it but I'm not above it: every review, purchase, and mention of hello sunshine does help get me closer to this haha. like literally publishers care about that shit
the worse thing about chasing rabbits is that I'm like *screaming and punching the air and doing kicks and rolls and embarrassing shit about it* and I'm not allowed to dedicate that energy to actually doing anything about it yet!! I HAVE SO MUCH ENERGY LET ME USE IT

News on the Millionaires' Tax: It's receiving majority support in Washington state... from Republicans.

Washingtonians are ready to change our upside-down tax system.
Guess who supports a millionaires tax? Republicans, WA poll finds
A proposed state income tax on million-dollar earners in Washington is broadly popular, an independent poll has found. Even, surprisingly, among self-identified Republicans.

Nuanced take: I think it's really important to give *normal citizens* who supported Trump and off-ramp and *professional writers, pundits and politicians* who supported Trump should have to wear it like a scarlet letter for the rest of their lives
This is aggravating, because on the one hand I think it's really important to give fascists an off-ramp and positive reinforcement when they use it...

...on the other hand, FUCK that guy, in particular.

It’s ironic that they’re like “if we do ethnic cleansing we’ll have a high trust neighborly society” and then Minneapolis is literally doing high trust neighborly society and they’re like nooooo
Many Americans are terrible neighbors to each other, and that is why MN is striking everyone as extraordinary activism... when they are telling us that it is not. They're good neighbors!

It's no wonder that "being a shitty neighbor" is the hallmark of our domestic politics and our foreign policy.

Respectfully, I am going to whisper to some of our white comrades a truth that should be more widely known: You definitely have some ancestors to be proud of, ancestors who refused white supremacy, and poured out their lives in many of these struggles over time.

Time to claim your true history.

Probably my most heretic comic opinion, but:

Unless you are a gag a day comic, the homepage of your webcomic should have the first page of your comic/cover/Intro, not the most recent page

Like, i always muse about how weird it is people choose to appropiate cultural myth/heritage for horror monsters cause there is so much risk, at best you get it wrong, at worst you are being horrible racist, why not just make up your brand new monster?
If you make it up, you can't get it wrong.
34. If you're going to appropriate indigenous folklore for your story, first of all probably don't. But if you INSIST on doing it, at least get the monster right. If I see one more Wendigo with a deer skull for a head I'm going to beat someone to death with a Crown Royal bag full of nickels
