This week’s main story is about Paramount’s decision to name Bari Weiss Editor-in-Chief of CBS News, the future of U.S. journalism, and why we think she shouldn’t describe her endeavors as “punk.” Bari, look at us: You are not punk. Joe Strummer would’ve hated your fancy Substack, Bari!

I’ve said it before, any judge who so comfortably and clearly shows their prejudice should immediately be barred from their jobs, but we don’t live in a world that makes sense.

We live in a world where white people get to deem racism as a simple inconvenience and be the sole arbiter of its weight.
So exhausting..

We’re back tonight at 11pm on HBO Max/11:10pm on HBO! After an eventful few weeks away. And if the FCC is reading this, we just want to say: tonight’s episode is about…how cute your outfit is! And every episode after that, too, cause you’ll just keep wearing outfits! And we love that about you.

Joy Reid. Karen Attiah. Gene Robinson. Jonathan Capehart. There are lots of others. Circumstances differ. But really sad to see new organizations not keeping super-talented Black staffers. The news industry spent decades talking about diversity, improved some from 2014-2020 and is now going back.

They aren’t calls for civility. They’re demands for forgiveness. Because if Black people can “forgive” the most virulent racists, then there’s certainly hope for your racist loved ones or even you. Grief is an extension of love. It’s why hate coalitions don’t know how to do it alone.

I love every episode of You Are Good, but one that I return to again and again is Moonlight with @ryankenacts.bsky.social. I figure I might as well print out two meaningful quotes, so I can stare at them all the time. 💚

It’s wild that we refuse to acknowledge that almost everyone in the Trump regime has been hired on the basis of their race and/or gender and that’s also the reason the quality of their “work” hasn’t gotten them fired

Of all the violently eugenic things RFK has said, claiming that autistic people will never write a poem is one of the most ridiculous! Poetry!? You mean one of the preferred modes of expression for people misunderstood by society? Baby, you can’t spell poeticism without tism!

Interesting how the party who spent years telling everyone that learning American history is “too woke” is citing the most obscure 19th century laws to justify its actions.

I’m finally watching Real Housewives of Salt Lake City and it’s truly incredible how this show manages to be every genre of TV simultaneously. I’m on season 2 and now it’s true crime!

When you see agents surveilling a neighborhood or building, let it be known to everyone in that area.

Document and expose the surveillance and overseers.

Warn people in the vicinity, it can help people be prepared.
