Isn’t it weird that we can’t have free healthcare or renewable energy because it would destroy multiple labor markets but the entire selling point of AI is that it will allow the destruction of multiple labor markets? Anyway have a nice day

Unironically agree, I mean we’ve been calling those mfers “anti-choice” for years now anyway
The way anti-vaxxers and conservatives have carelessly thrown away children’s lives has unironically made me feel we should reclaim the “pro-life” label and start yelling at these people for killing kids

a big reason film enjoys its cultural stature is that people with massive inherited wealth picked up making or patronizing films as favored hobbies during the 20th century. you can't dress up fancy to be seen playing a video game at The Berlinale because games are viewed as fodder for the poor.

Forty years ago, 90% of media outlets were spread across 50 companies.

Now, just 5 companies control 90% of the media market.

This consolidation hurts consumers and helps oligarchs. 🧵

Check out my friend’s work!
It’s Bandcamp Friday, and I would be remiss to not promote the game soundtrack I released just last week. Check it out if you’re into orchestral music with spooky Victorian steampunk vibes ☺️

I love companies being punished for replacing workers with AI. Gimme more
Duolingo announced it was going “AI-first” just over six months ago. Since then its stock is down 64%.

For years, I’ve heard Toronto people claim that heritage doesn’t stop new housing. That has always been nonsense.

Now the city is *openly, explicitly* saying a rich area shouldn’t be rezoned because heritage is more important than housing.

Toronto has some of the most used and highest frequency bus corridors on the continent.

It’s crazy they don’t/can’t go all in on making buses great (dedicated lanes, stop consolidation, etc.).

It’s not a city where you can even begin to pretend that “nobody rides the bus”.
Uh oh, Ontario transportation minister Prabmeet Sarkaria liked this IntegrityTO video blaming bus lanes for car congestion…

🚍‼️ The new #TTC #RapidTO bus lanes on #Dufferin are great! Next, they should be:
-⬆️ extended north from Bloor to Eglinton
-🚌 paired w/ frequent & reliable service
-↔️ added to Finch, Lawrence, Jane & Steeles

No offense but I think we underestimate how many of our current problems, both cultural and political, are downstream of the decline in reading, the decline in learning and the loss of interest in the humanities.
