A poster titled “know your pasta shapes” with fun loose illustrations of 16 types of pasta. The names are, well, wrong. The bow tie is Mr fancy boy. Rotini - wiggle winders. Large shells - madame’s secret. Small shells - mademoiselle’s smaller, daintier secret. Then we have long twirler, girthier long twirler, and then orzo as “you’re telling me that’s not rice?”. Next is yum yum wheels, potato fluff puffs. Then the tubes: tiny tubes, big honkin tube, twisty tube (macaroni, you get it) and gaping tube. Cavatelli - water slide, and finally ravioli is secret mystery fun surprise

Fell down a rabbit hole learning about gay birds. And let me tell you, the birds, they are so gay. Gayer than I ever imagined. Far beyond a few lesbian seagulls and gay penguin dads. So I made a bird-filled pride print!

As I approach the four year mark of my migraine, I’ve started sitting down with it every day and drawing it

If it won’t go away, at least I can get to know it better, its colours, shapes, and moods

It’s less about “capturing the pain,” more about being present and curious with sensations

Today’s odd fixation: antique board games shaped like birds
An old board game where a white goose is covered in various circles that are either pink, yellow, or have a little picture in them. The point of the game is unclear, though the goose appears to have laid some golden eggs A game called the “Swan of Elegance” where the board features a swan with a red ribbon wrapped around it, and I presume you move along the spaces that are laid out along the ribbon completing some sort of objective as you go. A German game, where circles follow along a path in the shape of a swan. The circles each have charming illustrations on them of people and other, smaller swans. There are instructions in tiny German print The Majestic Game of the Asiatic Ostrich! An energetic ostrich mid-step takes up most of the board, and around it are 20 numbered figures of fancy men dressed as soldiers, clergymen, noblemen, and a king at the end. If they’re supposed to be specific people it’s way above my historical paygrade

Fixation of the day: this illustrated book of Czechoslovakian folk toys from 1951. The drawings by Emanuel Herick are beautiful, and the toys themselves are charming as heck
