Hi there, #portfolioday ! I’m an illustrator, graphic designer, and potter who specializes in book illustration (currently illustrating my 5th kids book & working away slowly at a graphic novel) & design/illustration for NGOs & other similar organizations!

I’m doing my first Ottawa market this weekend (613flea on Nov 15, 10-4 @ Aberdeen Pavilion for anyone who also lives here ) & have to promote this thing on insta…which lead to a gently unhinged video about the first chunk of mug-underglazing, brought to you by the LOTR extended editions. Enjoy!

I got into my first local market for next weekend (613Flea at Aberdeen Pavilion for any Ottawa folk) & am trying my darndest to get a quick batch done. Pease wish me luck as I enter THE GLAZING FRENZY (everything has to go back in the kiln by Thursday!! Eek!!!).

This is the (possibly too adorable?!? Look at her TINY FACE) guest-pup, who I had to go get from the bedroom around 8am for her morning walk because she is the most chill animal?!

Me waking up at 5am on a Saturday to start the kiln then feeling too awake to go back to sleep (even tho it’s got a long preheat on & will be under 200°F for hours).

I’m up at 5am to get the kiln going for a bisque fire & I was wondering if the dog we’re looking after would get up with me/ask to go out. The answer is no, she’s sensible and WILL stay in her cosy little bed until further notice! Smart beast!

The power of friendship!!!! (But seriously, so happy that he’s chosen a team he loves over money & also whoops I guess I have baseball opinions now!?)
I am beyond floored that Shane Bieber has exercised his option and stayed with #Bluejays. Not because I didn't think he liked it here, he absolutely did. But because he's only going to earn $12 million (US) in 2026 when he could have had 10 times that or more on the open market. Wow.

This series turned me into a full-on, complete nerd-about-it baseball fan and I am SO ready to get into the regular season next year!! (Special thanks to my partner who is, thanks to his mom, a baseball encyclopedia & explains everything really well when I have Qs, which is all the time)
“It follows the seasons, beginning each year with the fond expectancy of springtime and ending with the hard facts of autumn…Most of all, it is about time and timelessness, speed and grace, failure and loss, imperishable hope, and coming home.”

So I tried to go to sleep last night & couldn’t stop thinking about baseball & ended up running through the plot of GdT’s Frankenstein* to comfort myself to sleep? Brain hack!?

*you can tell I loved the movie b/c I was able to remember a ton of it despite only seeing it once

1000% this.

The 2025 Jays played with guts and skill the entire season, came into the postseason the consensus favourites to get eliminated immediately, and fought the juggernaut that had been the betting favourite to win it all to a bloody battered draw. Keep your misery in its lane, Leaf fans
Not to pick on this particular person but this was absolutely not a choke job and hadn't been the entire series. The Jays aren't the Leafs. The Dodgers were expected to walk away with the series, we made them work for every single hit. This is simply the outcome of a very close game and series
One of the greatest choke jobs in sports history. A Toronto tradition

Ok, well that wasn’t the result I was hoping for (to understate it) BUT we’ll always have Ernie’s stunning and elegant slide into home (& all the other amazing moments from this series) 💕 What a team, what a season. I’m ready for next year!!

May your weens be hallowed and your toads (& frogs) be-hatted!! I feel like these autumnal little pals needed to be showcased for Halloween — can’t you imagine them as a forest witch’s familiar?!

I truly can’t stop thinking about how beautiful the Monster’s performance was…Elordi did so much with his eyes and physicality. Especially when he was brand new & Victor was cruel to him — you’re screaming at a giant baby who doesn’t know stuff, man!!!
Was able to make it to Frankenstein on the big screen and it was glorious — lush sets, stunning performances (especially Elordi as the Monster?!), THE COSTUMES!!! The kind of huge, sweeping gothic drama that Del Toro does so damn well (also makes me want to rewatch Crimson Peak!!).

Another great detail to learn: The iconic Blue Jays home run jacket is a labour of love handmade by Jill Douglas, who works at Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Cambridge, Ont., six days a week.

What goes into making the Toronto Blue Jays home run jacket: ‘It has to be put together piece by piece’
The celebratory garment is designed in-house and constructed by a fan whose own tribute jacket caught the team’s eye.

Continuing on with photos from this last batch of pottery — pls enjoy these wee Worrybirds (warbler-mode)! I got a lovely matte clear glaze for this batch & they feel like the smoothest, most pleasant river stones now 🥰

One more set of photos tonight as I scream at baseball — staying on the trash panda theme with a raccoon mug! I was trying to capture the feeling of looking through my patio door & seeing the rotund beasts who use our fence as a highway trundling along.

The Dodgers told me Yesavage keeps striking out their batters so I asked how many batters they have and they said they just go to the dugout and get a new batter afterwards so I said it sounds like they're just feeding batters to Yesavage and then Jason Bateman started crying.
