folks, I think we have enough data from our little "what would happen if the stupidest person alive were president" experiment, can we try something else now

"They are now stuck trying to find a believable way to resurrect him, and it is proving almost impossible."

Yes, because one thing the James Bond movies have always been famed for is their believability.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

every single week they're throwing this guy a special oval office love-in that appears to be the presidential equivalent of letting your dog scarf an entire big mac and fries before that last trip to the vet
Pirro: "Mr President, there is in this room a group of people who love you, who believe in you, and who are so proud to be in this Oval Office and to be part of this amazing day because you have changed the course of America."

Striking workers at the #Pittsburgh Post-Gazette may wind up going back to work with people who crossed the picket lines.

Stupid facts I know: Eight O'Clock Coffee, once A&P's house brand, is now part of the same company that also makes Land Rovers and owns Air India.

It isn't good but when the situation is such it's the most we're getting until midterm elections can change the vote balance. The war is long and this is one battle which on its own couldn't have turned the tide anyway. We weren't going to win the whole thing /today/ but Rs will own the stove touch

I think I'm settling on something like this thread's view. Republicans didn't get what they really wanted AND they own the consequences of it anyway.

Without Democratic control of at least one chamber that's just about the best we're going to see with this R trifecta configuration.
Doubt itll ever sink in w most of the ppl on this site but I'm seeing a tremendous amount of rage at Rs getting a "political win" & like...are ppl just not having attention? Ds were trying to prevent a thing that, if Rs had agreed, would have been politically beneficial *to Rs*. They rejected that.

If you’re mad, blame those people and yell at them.

If you’re just yelling at “the democrats” you are the problem.
These are the Democrats who voted yes:

Dick Durbin
John Fetterman
Maggie Hassan
Tim Kaine
Catherine Cortez Masto
Jacky Rosen
Jeanne Shaheen

Yeah it sucks, but keep in mind that's only about 16% of Senate Democrats. Most sided with Chuck Schumer and voted against it.

The Steelers defense tonight must be getting coached by Chuck Schumer. But I hear the Chargers have promised to give them a chance to score some points in the fourth quarter

apropos of nothing I wrote a book a long time ago about how the DLC and Bill Clinton redefined winning for an entire generation of Democrats as "getting something done" through bipartisanship and compromise rather than achieving (or even having!) a specific outcome in mind, and, what do I know.

truly, do senate moderates wake up every day with a horse kick to the head?

Most people think the President of the United States can snap his fingers and do what he wants. Trump is eager to reinforce this, in principle and practice. If you fold now, he gets the credit. Go back on your terms or not at all. Sometimes politics is a slow bleed.
