We the taxpayer all know Trudeau fluffed up the civil service by way too much. It needs to be reduced. I have no sympathy, have witnessed how some work first hand. Nothing like the private sector.

Same goes here, I bet. Bring on the Chinese EVs, the 3% of the market that tesla holds will evaporate!
January 23, 2026 at 2:15 PM
That's good, but not enough. Come on folks, why go to the hellhole south of us?
January 23, 2026 at 2:13 PM
Makes me want to buy just to piss him off. But I can't bring myself to buy any EV.

In reality, a lot more Americans are iditols, but this survey gives us stats to work from. The other, better more realistic stats are from the last election. All those that voted for trump and those that didn't vote are idiots.
Although 66 per cent of U.S. respondents said they'd "prefer" Canada remain an independent nation, 10 per cent said they'd like to see it become a territory of the U.S. and seven per cent its 51st State.

7% of Americans are abject idiots.

10% are imbeciles.

66% are waffles.

I'm Canadian and I think it's called the 25th amendment. This is something Americans need to get on top of, for your and the world's sake!
I agree completely, and sympathize with what he's put Canadians through. That said, the original comment insisted Americans who didn't vote for him, as well as those who did, were all in his bad books, ending with a command we get rid of Trump now. Any suggestions as to how we go about that?

Doesn't mean anyone will buy them. Sales are tanking around the world. Very few want to be associated with the fascist musk or anything he's involved with. Perhaps the Chinese imports will further supplanted Tesla sales. A good thing in my mind.
With the tariff now at 6.1%, Tesla is expected to resume sourcing Model 3 and Model Y units for the Canadian market from China.

Mark Carney brushes off Doug Ford’s anger over China EV tariff cuts
In Qatar, the prime minister said the vehicle imports he's prepared to allow into Canada are just a small fraction of the consumer market.

He's not aware that the Buick Envoy, Chevrolet Spark and Mustang Mach E are already built in China and imported here.
Guess what Duggie, Tr@*p is already destroying Ontario's auto industry and selling a few affordable EVs is not going to change that. Give your head a shake!
January 18, 2026 at 8:11 PM
Guess you're unaware that the Buick Envoy, Chevrolet Spark and Ford Mustang Mach E are already built in China and exported to Canada now.
Let me be clear: Mark Carney is selling out our auto sector. China gets 49,000 guaranteed vehicle sales. Ontario workers get "expected" investment in "three years." Our workers deserve guarantees – you don't protect an industry with maybes.
If fighting for Ontario auto workers wasn't important enough for Doug Ford to go to Beijing, what was?

Scott Moe flew to China for Saskatchewan canola. Doug Ford stayed home while Mark Carney negotiated our auto sector's future – with no one at the table negotiating for Ontario workers.

Well, simple to fix, don't buy one. Just because they can be imported, doesn't mean anyone will buy them.

Best reason to like the plan. 3% of cars sold are apparently all the electric cars sold, most of which are Tesla. So hopefully the Chinese cars will replace them. Great!
January 18, 2026 at 3:18 AM
Boggles the mind that so few really understand how the sector works!. There are thousands of small plants all over Ontario making parts for all kinds of cars, in Canada, the US & Mexico. Assembly work is the last step in the process, a LOT more that goes on before a car gets put together on a line.
Marit. How many vehicles that Canadians currently own were made in Canada by "Ontario Workers?" You might want to look that up, and see how many we are already importing from other nations.

It's called the TSX, Toronto stock exchange. Lots of great companies listed there. Lots of oil producers, upstream & downstream, driller, pipelines, etc.
I was just wondering how one invests in the Canadian stock market.

While I agree with the sentiment, there are lots of small factories in Canada that make parts for all sorts of cars & trucks assembled in both Canada and the US. If you stop buying them, those folks loose out too. The average part crosses the border up to 7 times before it's assembled into a car.
Dear Canadians,

Stop buying US made vehicles.

We can cripple their auto industry by simply not buying American-made cars.

Buy the ones made anywhere but the USA.

Our power as consumers is in our money. Don't buy their shit. There are plenty of alternatives out there.
