"That scare involved an unknown man falsely identifying himself as immigration enforcement and calling and threatening the cafe. He demanded information about Bennett’s employees [...] and said he was looking for 'Jose.' Bennett said she’s never employed anyone named Jose."
These business owners “were threatened for being immigrants. Now, this Utah restaurant is welcoming all for a free Thanksgiving meal.”

“Annie’s Cafe in Bountiful will open Thanksgiving Day and serve free dinners to ‘anyone in need.’”

An Iranian professor on a visa was arrested for being Iranian at the airport, and detained for 3 days. Incredibly chilling to see this happening in my own country.
"An Iranian professor for the University of Oklahoma was released by [ICE] on Monday after spending three days in detention for what the agency has deemed 'standard questioning.'"

"It was a deeply distressing experience."

Great article, good overview of history of U.S. providing training in terror and torture in El Salvador.
“The criminalization of gangs depends on what criminology professor Ana Muñiz calls gang phantasmagoria.”
The Department of Homeland Security is using tattoos as a pretext to deport immigrants back to El Salvador, where they risk being disappeared into the notorious CECOT prison without due process and without hope.

So lovely! I appreciate Japanese tales of transformation. It’s a common thread among many older cultures.

Comparitively, in the US… I reckon the biggest dream is to become a Social Influencer.
In #JapaneseFolklore there is a belief that when animals and birds reach advanced age they can transform into #yokai. Aosagibi (blue heron fire) is a phenomenon that occurs when an elderly night heron develops supernatural qualities. Over time the heron's feathers begin to...

Pretty convincing evidence here that the Trump administration was planning to jailbreak and provide asylum for Bolsonaro -- and that Trump inadvertently revealed the plan.

And this, as the now-cliche goes, would have been a paralyzing scandal for any other administration.

Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.

The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.
