Is this another last gasp from the fossil fuel advocates? Anyone who has driven an EV will know that old fashioned internal combustion engines are primitive in comparison.

While Bonnie may not have made any money from it (presumably due to dodgy dealings), her record label will have made £3 million and the song's publisher will have made another million or so.

This is how I'm feeling at the moment about Americans. If you aren't actively opposing what is going on then you are part of the problem. Most of your politicians seem completely ineffective.
Important perspective from Greenland.

Are there any Casio piano 🎹 experts on here? I have the service manual for this sick PX700 but I suspect there might be an alternative to removing hundreds of screws and my assistant isn't being much help.

The music biz seems to revolve around Spotify but it isn't great for new independent artists. If you currently subscribe to Spotify, please consider changing to something like Qobuz which gives artists a fairer share (and better sound).

There are tools to make it easy to transfer your playlists.
In April 2024, Spotify implemented a new scheme: songs with less than 1k streams per year would no longer receive royalties.

The data for 2025 was just released via Luminate, and 88% of songs have been demonetized.

Read it again: 88% of songs on Spotify have been demonetized.

Our first gig went amazingly well last night. Thanks to all the other performers and everyone at the Login Lounge in Camberley for making it such a memorable night.

Feeling a bit nervous as our first proper gig happens tonight. I've played hundreds of gigs as a drummer but I've not played a gig on guitar for nearly 40 years.

I know America has often been the bad guy, especially in foreign policy, but it is terrifying to live in a truly rogue state, where the President lies to us and the world and does whatever he wants. We are fighting the Devil, and the Devil is inside the house.

I've finally repaired my lad's hifi amp. For months he's had to wait up to half an hour with it buzzing away before it finally jumped into life. Tonight he refused to make pizza for us until I fixed it.

Some good news to counter the negativity that seems so prevalent.
New post!

There was a lot of innovation in medicine and biomedical research this year, and I've tried to summarize the biggest ones in this blogpost.

I stood next to Mick Hucknall at a Curtis Mayfield gig in Manchester. Mick looked somewhat embarrassed when Curtis mentioned his presence from the stage but named his band "Symphony Red".
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

With all the doom and gloom around, it is easy to forget that there have been many positive achievements over the last year. Here are some examples...
1/12 Such excitement on the high seas in 2025: a tangible shift in action from aspiration to enforceable, site-specific legislation, and somehow amidst current crises of global trust we managed the diplomatic feat of binding ourselves to an agreement to care for our international waters. 🧵

If this guy is really the expert that he says he is then surely he should know that data doesn't exist unless it is backed up in 3 different and unconnected places.

I didn't realise that this was a world record subject. Now that it has been publicised, I suspect that it will be beaten very soon by an 8 or 9 year old. Maybe even younger if Scratch based games are allowed.

Music streaming gets a lot of shit. And a big helping of that is very fairly earned.
But it's important not to forget that there is a positive side to the new paradigm as well.
As someone who teetered on the brink of getting into the old world, and failed (twice), I have a bit of perspective.

When I was working in oceanography, having a paper published in a Nature journal was considered to be a great achievement. Nowadays they seem to publish any old slop.
"Runctitiononal features"? "Medical fymblal"? "1 Tol Line storee"? This gets worse the longer you look at it. But it's got to be good, because it was published in Nature Scientific Reports last week: www.nature.com/articles/s41... h/t @asa.tsbalans.se

I've heard similar things to Katie. I'm just hoping that we can find a way for our son to continue his GCSE progress.
Hearing more and more stories of exam centres overwhelmed with private candidates and considering cutting down or stopping their support. In a context of >3% of KS4 children EHE. This is very bad, and no-one is paying any attention.
