Wow! I didn't quite believe this when I first heard, but our song, Cold North Wind, is Track of the Week on Mystery Train Radio mysterytrainradio.com

We (The Cutting Room) are going to have our first ever radio play on BBC Introducing Solent tonight with our (well really Tegan's) song Cold North Wind. Thanks to @yewtreemagic.bsky.social for the wonderful string contribution too.

You're going to be hearing some new music from me in a few days time - Cold North Wind - the first release from The Cutting Room which comes out on the Sound On Sound Forum album compilation at the weekend.

Or go for the inflatable version 😉

Welcoming a new addition to the household. Ralph's cat Diggy has come to live with us today. And with great timing, the glass people came to fit a cat flap just a few minutes before Diggy arrived.

I still use these ex-Concorde headphones in the studio (bought from eBay rather than a souvenir of a flight on it).

We had a great time at the acoustic session at Gallery No30 in Petersfield on Friday. Really encouraging to see so many great performers and thanks for the warm reception to songs that we had never played in public before.

This is mine just after it was put up last year. My friend Tegan, who helped with the base, said we should bury a shoe in the base for good luck. We didn't do that in the end, but whoever dismantles it will find our initials scrawled in the concrete.

The view from Blackdown was gorgeous yesterday

I'm guessing that Bluesky did it anyway (though in this case it was purely coincidence as I only ever use the "following" tab).

So what are @theguardian.com up to now? Seems a little all or nothing - maybe they would prefer me to cancel my monthly donation and stop reading their website.

The studio is getting closer to being finished - just about all the gear is in place and computer playback works. Still lots of wiring to do but it should be ready enough for me to transfer some 1" 8 track tapes from the early 1970s at the end of the week.

I'm still buzzing from performing a couple of songs at Gallery No 30 in Petersfield. Someone watching said this sounded like it was written 200 years ago but Tegan only settled on these lyrics earlier in the week.

Or the Otari MTR90 2" reel tape machine which is over 45 years old and still earning its keep (currently in the corner of my living room).

Gorgeous day on the Hampshire/West Sussex border today.

It is starting to look like a recording studio. The first corner traps and Rockwool filled panels are up.

Tomorrow marks the anniversary of the day that we lost Simon. An exceptional drummer, percussionist and friend. I still find it hard to believe that we will never see his cheery smile or benefit from his helpful problem solving again.

A post from @rhodri.biz about the George Robey pub sent me off on a search for Club Dog which was held there. I knew we had played Club Dog with Captain Pike but couldn't remember much about it. I found a flyer online and it turns out we played before they moved and we supported Spacemen 3!

Busy studio building weekend - nearly finished the first layer of plasterboard. Now time to buy some more and clutter the place up again.

The big delivery for the new studio build has come a day earlier than expected - very thankful for the dry and 🌞 weather which gave me time to clear some space for it.

Many years ago I was in a synth duo along the lines of Yazoo or The Eurythmics - but somewhat more shambolic. Yesterday I found this old bio that we used to send out. At least Cynthia hasn't achieved world domination yet!

The first stage of the new studio build is complete - we have an outer shell. Many thanks to Marc and Liza for all the hard work.

The hawthorn bushes in my hedge are really prolific this year. I have never seen so many berries on them.
