Former AUV engineer - now restoring and mastering audio recordings.
Now that the studio is up and running I have a minimal setup in the living room. I've just bought a small USB keyboard to play around with and I'm currently enjoying going back to the 80s with this tal-software.com/products/tal...

I've heard similar things to Katie. I'm just hoping that we can find a way for our son to continue his GCSE progress.
Hearing more and more stories of exam centres overwhelmed with private candidates and considering cutting down or stopping their support. In a context of >3% of KS4 children EHE. This is very bad, and no-one is paying any attention.

I don't normally have much time for LK but this is an interesting article - although she shows her true blue colours by adding a few unnecessary and irrelevant digs at the government towards the end.

Wow! I didn't quite believe this when I first heard, but our song, Cold North Wind, is Track of the Week on Mystery Train Radio mysterytrainradio.com

We (The Cutting Room) are going to have our first ever radio play on BBC Introducing Solent tonight with our (well really Tegan's) song Cold North Wind. Thanks to @yewtreemagic.bsky.social for the wonderful string contribution too.

You're going to be hearing some new music from me in a few days time - Cold North Wind - the first release from The Cutting Room which comes out on the Sound On Sound Forum album compilation at the weekend.

A very quick introduction to the newest RRS Discovery. Though new is relative - the last one had a working life of over 50 years and this one is only 12 years old.

I always enjoyed sailing with Stewart on the Autosub cruises.
Research vessels aren’t just giant floating labs🔬🌊

For the scientists and crew onboard, they’re home for weeks - or even months - at a time.

We joined Captain Stewart Mackay for a sneak peek into life onboard the RRS Discovery.

In three days, our iconic red planes will take off from Canada to make the epic journey across the world to Antarctica.

These flights mark the start of a new polar science season.

BUT ALSO that means there's three days left to send your name to Antarctica with us! tickettoantarctica.com

From personal knowledge I can well believe this. Youngsters just naturally want to see how far they can push the boundaries and most people in education lack the skills to stop them.

If you are a teacher then you need to keep the computer geeks on your side.

We need to talk about geoengineering ⚠️

In a rapidly warming world with looming net zero due dates, there's growing polarised debate about whether we should intervene in Earth’s natural systems.

This is a thread about the state of polar geoengineering, and how we should be talking about it ⬇️

No mention of under 16s in this 😉

It would be interesting to know the pass rate for home educated children - especially those taking exams early.

Actually, even if my lad had waited until the normal time to take GCSEs, he would still have been under 16.

This is an interesting article about what went wrong at Oceangate but the BBC keep saying things like "No deep diving sub had been made out of this material before" in all their reports. That's not true.
