How does this help anyone? How is this solving a problem at all? The “health card misuse” seems like a made up excuse with zero data or justification to back it up.

Keeping up with the UCP government's democratic transgressions can be difficult.

But not impossible.

Here’s a running list since Danielle Smith became premier. 🧵👇

Not even hiding the blatant entitlement anymore.

The Premier's Office continues to remove all checks and balances on its power.

The courts, the legislature, the Auditor General, independent agencies, the federal government, voters and candidates they don't like...

This is getting ridiculous.

I'm the next few days, it would be a mistake to:
❌️ limit the resistance to the teachers' demands or saving public education
❌️ make labour/workers/unions the only faces of opposition

The UCP's pre-emptive use of the notwithstanding clause is much broader than one strike or one set of rights.
The days ahead will be crucial.

Not just in terms of public opinion, but in terms of political culture.

Champions of human rights and the constitution must not only outnumber the premier's supporters.

They must persuade Albertans that these positions are dominant, piercing the populist bubble.

Coward.
Where's the premier while MLAs rush through an all-night debate on stripping Albertans of their Charter rights?

An airport lounge, waiting for a flight to Saudi Arabia. She didn't even bother to show up for the vote.

I remember when conservatives turfed premiers for this level of hubris.

A “moral imperative” coming from this lot is absolutely infuriating. None of them have a single moral bone in their bodies. It’s not “moral” to take away people’s rights
Mickey Amery...

Calling the use of the Notwithstanding clause a "moral imperative"...

That's a hell of a way to define a legacy and not at all foreboding rhetoric.

Let's be clear about what happened today.

Premier Smith introduced a bill to strip Albertans of Charter rights,

denied MLAs the opportunity to debate it and the courts the ability to scrutinize it,

and did all of this from her seat on a jet to Saudi Arabia.
The UCP government has invoked time allocation and on a bill removing Albertans' Charter rights.

And they're using the notwithstanding clause to do it.

Here's why that is a dangerous precedent. And why real conservatives need to stand up against it.

🚨 This is inexplicable news to share. If in Alberta and you want flu and covid shots for NEXT year (2026-2027), you have only until December 15 of THIS year to order them.

This is not incompetence. It’s a deliberate choice to prevent as many people ..

I read this article and grew more furious at this government with each directive mentioned. They are laying groundwork to take away rights for access to MAID and then pursuing avenues to separate from Canada. Furious.

I'm extremely disappointed in this "balanced" plan. This policy would kill a ton of housing where it is needed most, with nothing concrete to make up for it.

Strap in folks, because I have a lot of thoughts that have been brewing over the last few weeks🧵

It’s no secret: The housing crisis is real.

We must build more homes to stay ahead, ensuring affordability and housing options instead of growth in new areas that will drive up costs.

UCP - the “party of reducing red tape”.
If you want a COVID-19 vaccine in Alberta this is what you now need to do:

1. "Pre-order" by Sept. 30: bookvaccine.alberta.ca/vaccine/s/pr...

2. In the fall, remember to book a public health clinic appointment. (No more pharmacy shots.)

3. Pay. (Prices not yet announced.)

4. Attend appointment.

A game without *any* penalties in any hockey game at any time of year is bizarre. Game six with the series as it’s been so far is just farcical.

Ugly game.

Oilers took too many penalties early. Fell behind. Lost their cool. Never got their game back. Then completely lost their heads.

They played and reacted exactly the way the Panthers wanted them to & the score reflected every bit of that.

They deserve no credit.
