Imagine organizing a counter halftime show solely to protest someone who doesn’t look, talk or think like you and then during your lip-synced dumpster fire telling everyone to dust off their Bible and heed the words of someone who doesn’t look, talk or think like you.

I really can’t take this
HAPPENING NOW: DHS just expedited Liam Conejo Ramos' asylum hearing to this morning, meaning it's possible the five-year-old and his family could be deported as soon as today.

Something I think a lot of people aren't clear on, Liam's parents have followed the legal process of claiming asylum. They are here LEGALLY.

Liam was being used to try to lure someone ELSE out of the house. He and his father were taken because that failed.

Now ... they seek revenge.

The Department of Homeland Security has moved to end asylum claims for Liam Conejo Ramos’s family.

Apparently the FBI's Epstein redaction machine was set to redact "don't" (Don T) for some reason. That would appear to run afoul of The Epstein Files Transparency Act (H.R. 4405)

MAGA 2020: I’m not carrying a vaccine record or wearing a mask.

MAGA 2026: Show your papers to masked ICE agents and you won’t get hurt.

As high-profile people attempt to defend their connections to the most notorious child trafficker and child rapist of all time, this is a good reminder that it actually never was difficult to not associate with a pedophile sex criminal

No one elected Stephen Miller
This is the authoritarian tell:

If a judge rules against your preferred outcome, declare the judge illegitimate.

If that mindset takes hold, courts stop being guardrails and become targets.

Democracy cannot survive a government that believes the law only counts when it wins.

Republicans literally took DC to the Supreme Court to overturn its handgun ban, and won in a landmark decision.
Pirro: "You bring a gun into the District, you mark my words, you're going to jail. I don't care if you have a license in another district and I don't care if you're a law abiding law owner somewhere else. You bring a gun into this District, count on going to jail. And that makes all the difference"

Muslim university students were arrested and expelled for protesting genocide. Let's see if college Republicans get even a slap on the wrist for advocating extrajudicial killings.

But first, the guillotine
Burn it all down.
This level of disgusting racism and cruelty didn’t exist in a vacuum, and it didn’t end with Epstein.

Epstein files:

“JEFF wanted, ‘young, fresh meat girls. Virgins.’ He told ■, ‘Don’t bring me any n*ggers.’”

note to national Democrats: you can do this too when you have the majority

there is nothing stopping court expansion other than norms that have long since become obsolete in the face of a radical, out of control majority currently enabling a fascist lunatic
The Utah governor just signed a bill to expand his state's supreme court by two seats.

Conservatives have been angry at a series of judicial rulings, including one that safeguarded direct democracy in 2024 & one that struck down their gerrymander. 1st step of their retaliation.

i think this is exactly right. fascism is the Death Drive as ideology. it's why the catastrophic end of the Nazi Party does not deter people from worshipping Nazis. that the Nazis destroyed Germany along with the rest of Europe is part of the appeal.
disturbingly plausible

To borrow a phrase from @gregdoucette.bsky.social: Guillotines
A drawing by a 5-year-old girl detained at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center in Texas with her mother Hayam El-Gamal. “I am 5 years old” is written at the top of the page. Lower down, next to stick figures, are the words “let us go.” Courtesy of Eric Lee, Lee & Godshall-Bennett, LLP

Miep Gies, who helped hide the Franks, repeatedly said she did not want to be viewed as a hero because she did what she expected any normal person to do.
The reason Anne Frank's story has resonated with so many people over so many years is not because circumstances have to be exactly the same as her's for anyone to care, but because anything remotely like it is wrong, and societies moving in that direction should oppose it well before they get there.

not an accident that habeas corpus is one of the absolute foundational rights--and not an accident that ICE is working overtime to undermine it as much as possible
Excellent explanation of how ICE moves immigrants from one prison facility to another to deny them access to justice.

This is just misleading. There is a big difference between saying state resources can’t be used to enforce fed’l civil immigration policy & local cops refusing to assist fed’l partners in an emergency. Deliberately conflating the two is disingenuous.

In Printz v. United States, #SCOTUS held that the Constitution bars the federal government from forcing or otherwise compelling local or state governments to enforce federal law.

The liberal squish who wrote the majority opinion in that case? Justice Antonin Scalia:
