Lately, my wife and I have been referring to our marriage exclusively using yuri manga cliches. Well, okay, I've been doing that. She's just mostly been tolerating it. Due to the promise we made on that day

Adults at ICE concentration camps also get punished for talking with people on the outside who can publicize their stories.

Based on what I've heard at the Otay Mesa camp in San Diego, they're punished with additional work duties, aren't allowed outside in the yard, and denied phone access.
My guess is that the goal here is not only to punish the children for turning more people against ICE/DHS, but also to make news outlets think twice about reporting on kids' suffering at the hands of ICE/DHS, out of concern that doing so might lead to retaliation against the kids.
ProPublica published children's letters and drawings documenting their sadness and suffering at Dilley. And Dilley staff are now retaliating by confiscating kids' letters and drawings.

on top of being a mediocre movie, Now You See Me's blatant disinterest in all the things that actually make stage magic interesting annoyed the hell out of me. that it's now a popular franchise is baffling
fun question: what’s the maddest you’ve ever been leaving a movie theater? not necessarily worst movie you’ve seen, but the one that just pissed you off the most. mine is Batman v Superman

It seems nuts to me that CNN has partnered with an online gambling site (Kalshi) and hypes their betting lines as “news” to report.

The Death Star board room scene is low key the funniest scene in cinematic history. It’s a work meeting with an evil samurai wizard everyone else finds mildly annoying and when his manager tells him to stop killing a coworker with his magicka, he has to listen.

Lawful Evil is the funniest alignment. Nothing Le Wacky Wholesome Chungus Chaotic Good bard does will ever be as funny as the guards in Morrowind asking you if you have a license for that murder then pleasantly apologizing for holding you up when you produce said license.

I feel comfortable saying Rise of Skywalker was the worst Star Wars because it is the only one I genuinely do not remember enough of it to offer a coherent explanation of the plot. I think a knife and Poe’s ex-wife were somehow involved.
I feel like the harshest condemnation I can offer Episode IX right now is the honest one. I have no idea who Pryde is or indeed if I simply forgot them or if they were fabricated on the internet right now

There's a video of Dave Filoni and George doing a The Clone Wars Q&A where Dave said "George walked into the office one day and said 'I want to do an arc on banking regulation.'" In the kids TV show. It was actually quite good! No one since George has had a brain that powerful.

the bones of the prequels are fine! it’s an interesting and annoyingly prescient story about the fall of a decadent and corrupt republic into fascism that is terribly executed and full of wooden dialogue

but the clone wars are a cool sandbox to tell stories in

the sequels? actively uninteresting
The prequels were Not Good but there was enough stuff there that they could follow it up with like 200 episodes of The Clone Wars and spinoffs.

it is not interested in plot, it is not interested in worldbuilding, it is not interested in anything except throwing random disconnected snapshots of nostalgia at you

rise of skywalker kicks over the sandbox and leaves you uninterested in star wars in a way the prequels never did
