The world order as we’ve known for the last century is disappearing.

And in its place, a new order shaped by the private interests of individual men and their fiercest allies, not the interests, private or public, fair or foul, good or bad, of a nation.
A new theory explains why Trump keeps threatening global takeovers

I think if every EU country threatened to pull out of the World Cup it would genuinely deter him
Now would European leaders actually have the stomach for shooting at US forces if they seized Greenland next week?

Eh given how basically nobody has the stomach to even send troops to Ukraine right now I’m going to bet absolutely not.

In which case why shouldn’t Trump go for it, free real estate!

Typically when the US embarks on an illegal or dubiously legal regime change we use noble words about democracy, rule of law, spreading freedom, etc. to justify our actions. Trump has not done that. He offers few noble words as eulogistic covering. It's a crass power & oil grab, according to Trump.

I’ve been working full time to stop this war since last summer and the one scenario I feared the most is materializing — Trump is making a play for Venezuela’s oil. I’m not saying an insurgency will definitely form, but Trump’s ploy creates the perfect storm for an absolutely disastrous occupation.🧵
Trump: "We're going to have our very large United States oil companies go in, spend billions of dollars, fix the badly broken infrastructure and start making money for the country. And we are ready to stage a second and much larger attack if we need to do so."
