The fact that the rule of law report is essentially a list of *concerns* (not condemnations), praise for *good practice* and lists of *planned reforms* (wishful thinking with no real follow ups) makes blocking the fact-finding mission in Italy even more outrageous.
The EPP has a long tradition of shielding its own against EU scrutiny on the rule of law. It long protected Orbán when Fidesz was still member of the EPP, and now it is blocking rule of law fact finding missions to Meloni‘s Italy, who has become an important EPP ally.
According to EPP's press release, they are "concerned about signs of rule of law backsliding in a number of Member States"

But the 4 countries they list all happen to be governed by parties not in EPP or ECR 🤔

Spain is clearly their focus. Could it be related to Sanchez's vocal criticism of Trump?

Neoliberalism with an illiberal twist, again.
Robert Jenrick announces Reform UK will keep the OBR and Bank of England independence, with an emphasis on fiscal discipline, signified by restoring the two child benefit cap.

The speech is essentially the same as every Tory chancellor's conference speech in the last 10 years.

Dat klopt, maar kapitaalaccumulatie gaat niet enkel over kapitalisme - integendeel.

Musk was basically made by the US state, via charters and grants, and then paid Trump $300 million to X-ray and 'disrupt' its core operating system

Musk is one of many interregnal monsters, turning modernity into postmodernity, democracy into oligarchy, and (state) capitalism into technofeudalism
