Command and Conquer may be the perfect '90s game. Its main influences were Dune and the Gulf War. It has those post-Cold War brainworms about Europe and it feels like what happens when NATO has to fight Goreans. Completely alien now, like finding a T-shirt of Bart Simpson bombing Bagdhad.

Just found out about a fanfic wherein John Brown is Isekai'd into a standard harem-anime fantasy setting, becomes outraged at all the slavery this entails, so launches a holy war on all these slavers in his newfound environment. My only concern is the story can't possibly be as good as the premise.
