I am beginning to learn Spanish and I am not above spamming you all about it in exchange for pretend gemstones 😇🇪🇸🇲🇽

BREAKING: Trump says he is NOT surging feds to San Francisco due to of “substantial progress” made against crime by Mayor Daniel Lurie…

…and due to input from “great people” like Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang + Salesforce boss Mark Benioff.

Makes you wonder what lobbying there’s been behind the scenes 👀

We’ve finally reached the terminus. Masses of people spreading out through Civic Center Plaza and UN Plaza.

Here’s Christine U’Ren, a 59-year-old graphic designer from Berkeley, adding a data point to my “1776 is becoming left-coded” theory.

Brass band!

Wow. Hard to tell from here, but it LOOKS like the tail end of the march is still bunched up at the Ferry Building.

For context, I’m about 0.7 miles away and the front of the match passed here AT LEAST 30 mins ago.

No idea of crowd size, but it seems… big. I’m watching it pass from up on a plinth with a statue of some pioneer guy and it just keeps going and going and going.

The cartoon inflatable animals are out in force!

One more data point!

No Kings 2 begins marching in San Francisco, preceded by a police escort and a man blowing a bugle.

The protesters are walking from the Ferry Building down Market St, headed for city hall.
October 18, 2025 at 9:19 PM
Interesting: the Democratic fundraising giant MoveOn has brought out celebrity big guns to endorse No Kings 2.

They've got John Legend, Jane Fonda, and Kerry Washington urging supporters to attend and protest non-violently.

No such message for No Kings 1!

Kind of obsessed with this extremely relatable contemporary review of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, published in the wake of the French Revolutionary Wars

“There never was a wilder story imagined, yet… the real events of the world have, in our day, too, been of so wondrous and gigantic a kind”

Got hold of some EXTREMELY dangerous restricted goods today.

These puppies were under lock and key at Safeway. The attendant wouldn’t even give me them directly. He took ‘em to the customer service counter and made me pay there.

Good thing too. You wouldn’t want these to fall into the wrong hands.

There to, at least, appear to be some safeguards.

“[Trump's] acting with the military, without any kind of oversight, has the potential to have lots of people killed. I didn’t want to be one of them,” said 47-year-old programmer Jane Arc.

“When you’re fighting the government, you just can’t win. And I learned that working for the government.”

“I was in a place where I didn’t even know the meaning of safety anymore,” said 19-year-old Texan Solène Gray, now asking refuge in the Netherlands.

Texas's youth transition ban left her with a puberty-blocking implant still inside her body, while forbidding estrogen or even basic monitoring tests.

“We truly believed that if we did not get out before it started... our children were going to lose at least one parent, if not more,” said Jey Poston, a 32-year-old paralegal.

He's asking asylum in the Netherlands w/ his nine-strong polyamorous family, who are mostly queer, disabled, &/or non-white

"I would love to be wrong,” 22-year-old Hannah Kreager told me. “I want to be proven wrong so f***ing badly. But I just don't see it happening...

“In Nazi Germany, there weren’t surveillance cameras. There wasn’t facial recognition... nowadays, your phone microphone could be recording everything."

Page 4 ends with an indication of just how broad the Heritage Foundation intends this to be.

Cisgender. Deadnaming. These are normal, anodyne terms, used by trans people of all political stripes.

Others here are more contentious, but still plenty used by non-violent activists and scholars.
September 19, 2025 at 9:20 PM
Page 3 continues to represent nihilistic violence (Hale and Westman) as radical leftist terrorism.

This point is really important: some killers being trans is NOT THE SAME as politically motivated violence.

And Heritage barely even tries to demonstrate that the latter is actually a trend.
September 19, 2025 at 8:53 PM
We also get this supposed list of TIVE incidents, which I fact-checked.

In all but two, there is SOME evidence (tho oft very thin) that the perp/suspect was trans.

Exceptions are Robinson (not trans AFAIK) + GOP firebombing suspect (a bi dude who wears lipstick but has not identified as trans).
September 19, 2025 at 6:47 PM
On page 2, we get this crucial disclaimer:

"Q: Does this mean all transgender individuals or their allies are domestic terrorists?

"A: No. Individuals are free to identify as transgender, or support LGBT causes or transgenderism in a nonviolent way."

Says incitement or unlawful actions are needed
