Readers shouldn't be tasked with this. Reporters being flip about these lines also makes life harder for all literary nonfiction features writers who do follow the rules.
If you clocked that this was entirely fictional, good for you! I think the confusion for some people shows that it was not marked or explained clearly enough. Even the existing note makes it seem like it was based on composite but real stories, not a "hypothetical."

This would be amazing at the 95th red line
Beneath Berlin's Potsdamer Platz, an overlooked retail strip has been reborn as a bicycle parking facility and public passage connecting users to the S-Bahn station. Modest in scale but rich in possibilities, it integrates seamlessly into the revitalised entertainment, commercial and office centre.🧵

I’m sorry, the idea of the MAC having both Sacramento State and UMass is an affront to God.
NEWS: The MAC has voted to add Sacramento State into the league as a football-only member, @RossDellenger reports👀

Burger City, College Ave, Lisle. Great food in a nondescript strip. Beef bacon if that's what you seek. And a nice little indie bookstore next door.

hello and welcome to the political genius exam. here is question one. which is a more compelling message:

- the president is sending armies to occupy cities and kidnap and kill people and your town could be next
- a meal at the cheesecake factory that previously cost $100 now costs $104.9
Romance alert: Trump's reckless tariffs have Valentine’s Day costs up across the board:

Roses 🌹16.6%
Chocolates🍫 18.7%
Ribeye 🥩 25.4%
Restaurant meals 🍽️ 4.9%

I think stuff like this should be taken seriously, but what she’s actually been doing is making Starship Troopers-style videos so weird Trump wants to know what the hell is going on with them while her boyfriend, whose status as a government employee is … vague, plots her future presidency.

I'll never forget Jaroslav Halak in Sochi, tears in his eyes, lamenting the looming death of Slovak hockey.

"Nobody's coming," he said softly.

He was wrong.

Is Slovak hockey back? Or is this a fluke, a once-in-a-lifetime group of young stars?

Looking at the video, you'll see that this is not in Chicago proper. It's in Lake Zurich, a well-off northern suburb. And the kid's got a bluecheck. So my only question is whether he cooked up this scheme to get on the conservative grievance gravy train on his own or if his parents did it for him.
over on x the everything app some Chicago high school kid named Danny Spud tried to disrupt his school's anti-ICE protest by yelling about how much he loves ICE and then filmed himself getting walloped by a fellow student lmao

the quote tweet making fun of him has 3x the likes
