Or roughly, ”Shame on those who steal, not those who ask for help.”

Updated list!

Food is pretty urgently needed if you have the capacity. The city does not provide anything, this is being organized by library workers who have decided, unsupported by admin, that it's cruel to expect people to sit somewhere for 12 hours without food or something warm to drink.

But critiquing it on the basis of legality is deeply misguided.

Especially when fascists construct the very existence of trans people and undocumented people here as crime.

"Legality" as a standard for protest is a trap, and it was set by the enemy.

Making it make sense: Epstein wasn't a global mastermind. He did not orchestrate a vast conspiracy that led us to today.

He was a very rich man with connections to other very rich men. The shared culture of these men is that they have a right to dominate and abuse others without consequence.

It is great that someone leaked these videos. BUT you have to KNOW NOTHING about how prisons work to be surprised that guards regularly violently punish incarcerated people who complain, file claims, talk to the press, etc. And by "work" I mean that violence is essential to how prisons function.

fwiw, changing the law often can create cascading changes in opinion.

legalizing gay marriage in some states rapidly convinced everyone that it was not in fact a danger. 1
I genuinely have no idea how to convey this to the American people, but I think the biggest impediment to any kind of immigration reform is that people are convinced that "legal" and "illegal" are immutable, intrinsic categories instead of a rapidly-shifting arbitrary constellation of regulations.
