when I was young, i used to wonder how people like this would fare in life, as they didn't seem suited for gainful employment. it turns out, the internet allowed them to accumulate a massive audience of similar idiots, enriching them and turning them into a presidential advisor

Removing a monument honoring Black US soldiers has nothing to do with DEI. It’s erasure of history and it’s straight-up racism.

Let me tell you two menswear stories related to this claim. 🧵

I have approximately zero following on this app, sharing in the hopes it can get in front of the right person. A man I went to college with’s wife was kidnapped by ICE at a green card hearing, and he’s trying to find a reporter who will speak to him about the situation

Barristers have a long, honourable tradition of working for free for those who cannot afford a lawyer.

People held in immigration detention do not get legal aid for their bail hearings. Many cannot afford a lawyer. @biddetention.bsky.social helps them for free.

When I can't remember the word "murder"
News Analysis: By ordering the U.S. military to summarily kill a group of people aboard what he said was a drug-smuggling boat, President Trump used the military in a way that had no clear legal precedent or basis, according to specialists in the laws of war and executive power.
Trump Claims the Power to Summarily Kill Suspected Drug Smugglers
The move to treat criminals as if they were wartime combatants escalated an administration pattern of using military force for law enforcement tasks at home and abroad.

a significant part of this, where this happens, is because Search has become such trash.
It is crazy how quickly we got used to having incredibly powerful AI chatbots that help us with meal suggestions, holiday planning, work tasks, research summaries and much more.

***LEGALLY BLONDE LIVE-TWEET: THE RULES***

This lecture explores the cinematic classic 'Legally Blonde' through the lens of English and Welsh law.

Contributions and observations are welcome, but I'm perfectly prepared to tweet the entire film to a wall of embarrassed silence.

I am advised that there are now NO votes left in Bradfield. The 59 remaining are partial decs where the voter's Senate vote is accepted not their Reps vote. Next stop distribution of preferences then if still <100 (extremely likely) recount.

Boele has retaken the lead in #Bradfield by 19 votes. 268 votes to be counted.

My mother’s family fled Estonia and had protection. In Australia we should also guard against the erosion of these protections.
"I want people to be safe and protected. I want to live on the right side of history. I am an immigrant. My parents are refugees from Chile. We fled a dictatorship and I was privileged enough to grow up in the United States after asylum in Denmark. I stand by those protections, always."

I know that yesterday the media was calling the result in #Bradfield, but the margin is now down to 59 votes. Kapterian still leads Boele.
