The experience of modernity is basically seeing the world get constantly worse and being told by people in power they can't do anything about it and that you're a bitch for wanting them to try.

The more I think about the DC press slagging AOC for a lack of FP depth while Donald Trump is President, twice, is making me angry enough to explode. The fuck is wrong with the journalists that they're like this

My point in highlighting this stuff is not Boo hoo who, these bad men were mean! There’s no going back and nothing done now can change any of this shit. My point here is that none of this could’ve happened if Britain is a functional liberal democracy with a free press and representative government.
Pogrund himself speaking, here: Nobody wanted unsparing scrutiny, as you’ll remember well. That’s how it was, and what everyone thought.

I don't believe I've ever seen Ted Levine speak so candidly about his regrets of portraying Buffalo Bill in THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS. He and some of the crew on the film were asked about the film's cultural transphobia by The Hollywood Reporter.

This is like, super unsurprising unfortunately.
UTAH - Wasatch County Republican Party Chair David Johnson arrested for allegedly “waterboarding” a teen girl for not cleaning her room.

She also had bruising, and says he did it to other kids. Released on $10,000 bail.

The funniest thing about Irregular in Magic highschool is how it combines like, extreme levels of "this is not lewd!" multiple comments on how modest Japanese girls are in the future etc. with being about fucking your younger sister.

We bought Article II of the United Nations Charter with the blood of a hundred million human beings, and less than a century later, it's being sold for nothing by people who don't even understand what they're doing.
i think this is what drives me nuts. people talk about how, say, the UN was founded by "starry eyed idealists" who didn't understand "reality." the truth is that the UN was founded by those who had just fought and *won* the bloodiest war in human history.

Green voters: painful to admit the 2017 election result happened
Tory voters: eww!!! Might have to use words like ‘aspiration’
And so…the 18 months they’ve had instead.

If centrist Dems don't wanna be thought anti-trans maybe they shouldn't go on podcasts with transphobes and say how anti-trans they are?

Like people understand why this is an incredibly alarming thing to do no matter how many pro-trans bills you sign, right?

Unclear if the politician here is lying, or simply west wing brained so they think our Supreme Court is the same as the American one? Because the UK government can, in fact, simply change the law on which a judgement rests. It absolutely can do that.
Angeliki Stogia (Labour). Angeliki broadly performed well, but she felt very hemmed in by her government's record. When questioned about trans rights, for instance, she stated that the Labour Party would always stand against transphobia and that they couldn't just change the supreme court decision

You all saw the guidance that went out yesterday for trans kids in schools. Absolutely horrific stuff.

This is how the right wing papers are covering that news. Times, Mail and Telegraph all have it on their front page, the first two as their main story of the day.

You realise it is three years to the day that Brianna Ghey was murdered.

An innocent young girl killed because of transphobia and hate. What's changed in the three years since? Transphobes have upped their attacks. The government has increased discrimination.

It doesn't have to be like this.

Mel’s Times colleagues are being very forthright about just how bad this likely to get for the Labour right, as basically every awful thing they’ve said and done for decades is dragged into the light and the lads are pulled in to justify it in live, possibly televised sessions.

A lot of guys on the political right have mistaken tactical and moral objections to violence for practical ones.

A friends showed me some dude praising the white south African leadership for giving up over the ancient cause "they could have killed Mandella" and like... that was not the dynamic lol
