The experience of modernity is basically seeing the world get constantly worse and being told by people in power they can't do anything about it and that you're a bitch for wanting them to try.

Why is the only resignation-worthy issue at the BBC one which succinctly but slightly lazily told a basically accurate story about the right? Can we count the number of times "misleading editing" misrepresented the left?

... is that I spoke to Brianna's friends. On Tiktok. They were everything to her - you want to take that away from other kids like Brianna?

Do you not think it's bizarre to have strangers on the internet decide they know better than Brianna's own loved ones on what is or isn't insulting to her memory?
I've got no time for Rosie Duffield, but she turned up at a drop-in event in Parliament and that's been the limit of her involvement.

Reeves should be aiming to get off two cycles: “every budget is an ordeal, every minor fluctuation in the forecast is a nightmare“ and “we did some small tax tweaks to raise £2bn and whoopsydaisy, something has fallen over unexpectedly/inflation is higher”.
I’m with Vince.
And 2p on income tax plus 2p off NICS to raise £6bn feels like being hung for half a lamb.

no, i think this is a real thing, especially for second gen desis who want to be integrated into conservatism
I can’t prove causation but I feel like the crashout of right-wing desi pickmes is downstream of how tech (particularly tesla) is no longer a way to turn material wealth into cultural cachet

I would encourage centrists to maybe address the campaign Mamdani actually ran which was about affordable rents, groceries and buses, rahter than the campaign they wish he ran, which seems like it was about Palestine and possibly Lenin or something.

Democrats who want to maintain the standard U.S. support for Israel despite their own voters’ deep opposition to the country’s government will increasingly struggle — not because voters are obsessed with Israel but because it’s an indication they’re deeply out-of-touch or beholden to lobbyists.

Hegseth’s use of the phrase “lethal kinetic strike”—in particular that “kinetic”—is one of the frontiers in BTL (Bullshit Tactical Language), where quasi-technical bureaucratic phrasing meant to euphemistically efface what you did contends with the childish desire to excitably specify what you did.
