First they blamed the Dems for not funding SNAP

Then they went to court to ask permission NOT to pay

The shutdown is ending & they’re making everyone reapply and “prove” they’re legitimately starving.

It’s almost as though they spent the money and have zero intentions of ever funding it again.

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

My mobile service while on the BART underground in Berkeley was non-existent, but someone else near me on the train passed on the good news as soon as the NYT called it! Woot! Woot! ❤️❤️

Teeny, tiny, baby kale is the first of the fall garden! Planted only 6 days ago. The peas haven’t yet appeared. I also sowed some carrots, but I’ve never had much luck with them so expectations are low. It may be late to have planted for fall, but I’m still figuring out how to grow in this zone.

I'm shaking almost too hard to type. I entered SLC airport and heard screams and cries for help. I could see people gathered around, watching. I sped over to discover this woman face down on the floor, four grown men pushing her down, while she cried "HELP ME" and pled for her child.

California folks: if you have a Prop 50 mail-in ballot but haven't mailed it in yet, do it today. Please. I am begging you. It's literally the only question on the ballot and it'll take you like 30 seconds to fill out. Redistricting only happens if enough people vote for it by next Tuesday. #yeson50
California folks, for the love of all the gods and goddesses you revere, MAIL IN YOUR PROP 50 BALLOT TODAY. It's really easy: there's only one question! I recommend you vote YES on 50, then mail the ballot in, no postage required. #yeson50

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.
