The city could handle this station like they handled the brown line rehab 15 years ago. Make the platforms bigger and add elevators. $400 million vanity projects do not enhance the rider experience if the trains come every 15-20 min on the weekend. Run more trains

Democrats in Congress really need to understand what the rest of us realize already — this cannot be business as usual.

Write to them to remind them.

The first thing the new regional transit authority needs to do when it comes into existence is to do Ventra tap on, tap off on Metra. How are people *still paying cash for free* on trains outbound of OTC?

Old timers like to bring up the failure of the State Street Mall in Chicago as proof that pedestrianization cannot be done to any other Chicago street. To those people, I give you Brooklyn’s Fulton Street Mall, also from the 70s. It seems to be doing fine now. Lots of major retailers.

This cool 1960s poster from the NYC transit museum should be posted on all Chicago L trains

Two things that could improve the @chicagocta.bsky.social airport experience:
- the trains actually come every 6 min
- Brown Line to Jeff Park

The NYC subway to Q70 LGA free bus isn’t actually that bad. It could be better though, which might cause even more people to take it.

"A modern-day concentration camp ... People have been killed by the staff here." Irish citizen Seamus Culleton has been in ICE detention since September, despite having a valid work permit and his own business in the US.

You don’t need this many detention camps to take in “the worst of the worst”, @duckworth.senate.gov @durbin.senate.gov

People need healthcare not camps
ICE has now spent over half a BILLION dollars just on purchasing warehouses around the country to convert into detention camps.

If these mega-camps are utilized to the full capacity ICE intends, they'll be the largest prisons in the country, with little real oversight. www.ajc.com/politics/202...

U.K. might lose a prime minister because a guy who worked for him knew another guy who hung out with Epstein. Meanwhile the U.S. opposition party is telling our President, who was Epstein's best friend, that his secret police should get better training so their public street murders look less messy.

Yes I hope that @durbin.senate.gov realizes that he should not give away things like MASKS OFF ICE agents. If the Republicans want to allow masked ICE agents to terrorize, let them vote for it alone
AOC: We are going to have to reckon, as a country, with this time. And I hope that that reckoning includes prosecution of people who are involved with the lawbreaking and human rights violations they are knowingly engaging in right now.

Again @durbin.senate.gov @duckworth.senate.gov — this is not a training issue. These people need to have actual consequences. We don’t want promises of them acting upstanding because that’s not worth the paper it’s written on
I think it would be reasonable to estimate that something like eight canisters of tear gas were unloaded on these people all at the same time, with no warning.

ICE tear gassed a bunch of children on Saturday. This was a massive escalation of force. They were shooting tear gas at the back of the crowd, it took these unmasked people maybe 3-5 minutes in the cloud of tear gas to escape in without trampling. www.theverge.com/policy/87278...

We need strong action from @duckworth.senate.gov @durbin.senate.gov. Strongly worded statements won’t be enough
Next witness to testify is Marimar Martinez, a U.S. citizen and Chicago resident who was shot five times by CBP agents in October and was later charged with assaulting the agents who shot her. The U.S. Attorney's Office dropped those charges six weeks later.

AOC on ICE: It’s our task to figure out how to claw back what has essentially supercharged this agency into becoming a relentless domestic paramilitary that is also a blank check to Palantir to create facial-recognition scans on U.S. citizens.

Write to @durbin.senate.gov and @duckworth.senate.gov about this right now!
If they are truly "only after dangerous criminals" ICE should not be able to lay a hand on ANYONE unless they have a warrant for that person. Random abductions of US citizens should be punishable. ICE should be held accountable for bodily injury, damage to property and loss of life.

ICE OUT NOW!
