I can’t even imagine the stresses of being a parent these days. You’re doing an amazing job preparing them for adult life and in modeling what it means to be a caring, compassionate member of society. Sadly, there’s not much else under your control. But you’re giving them the boost you never had.

Prepare for an emergency dismount? Shift your weight forward, dropping reins, encircling the horse’s neck with your arms, kicking feet out of stirrups, and when the horse’s weight comes back down towards the front, let yourself slide off to one side while using the neck hold to steady you.

It took more than years for my sister and I to have a close relationship. Before that we were so often at odds with each other. I’ve only started to trust her for about two years. It’s wonderful that your kids have a good relationship.
