Obvs MSG would be a cool venue to do the first Dynamite but personally I am glad the first Dynamite happened in Capital One Arena a.k.a the arena Cena retired at. That place wil forever have AEW DNA. Also the arena where Levesque lost an enormous amount of goodwill since his TKO overlords oust Vince

WWE's AAA is kinda interesting to watch as a thought experiment.

If you had any visions of what WWE & AAA combining to vomit out vaguely lucha libre flavored wrestling would look like, they were probably VERY accurate. Every quirk of both companies' booking and wrestling styles is on full display.

TIL the first Dynamite could have happened at the Garden. 🤼

Some new AEW lore. This is Tony Khan tonight, telling us the first Dynamite was supposed to be at MSG, until MSG got worried it’d upset WWE.

He’d teased a PPV return to New York and the crowd had chanted for MSG

(Earlier, Tony read us a Christmas card from David Zaslav; seemed bummed people booed)

I don't think "hey Mexico, lucha libre sucked until WWE legitimized it" is a particularly good way to market AAA, to be honest.

"Lucha Libre is no longer a side show" during a video promoting the decades long history of AAA is bizarre.

WWE going all in on the idea that lucha libre was just silly flippy sideshow masked wrestling without global appeal until they bought AAA, which I guess is how they see it, is definitely a choice.

This video is just insanely condescending.

After Larry Nassar and the stuff I reported 4 years ago about the FBI choosing to punt on Mel Phillips despite catching him on video, I'm unfortunately not surprised by confirmation of the FBI refusing to stop serial child molesters anymore.

"Botch is an AEW word."

Remember when WWE tried (in a futile manner) to horn in on Botchamania with "Botch Club?" No, me either

On Facebook, Marc Mero posted the entire move by move script that he and Brian Pillman put together for their famous Fall Brawl '95 match that went half an hour.

"Brian and I had wrestled many times before, but we never really clicked. We weren't friends, just two professionals doing our jobs."

the worst part of the MJF discourse seems to be how, if you don't like him, people seem REALLY, REALLY BENT UPON TELLING YOU WHY YOU'RE WRONG. Like, I'm all for open conversation and discussion but if I don't like a performer, I'm not WRONG for not liking him, I just have different TASTE than you do

Sports Illustrated giving AEW 10 of the 14 year end awards is great, but giving the fed match of the year is hilariously wrong. AEW Revolution had 3 matches back to back to back better than the fed choice. And that doesn't include Hanger vs Mox or Hanger vs Ospreay.

They can't fathom the thoughts of one able to get both things in pro wrestling.
One of their fans informed me they'd "take a great promo over a great match anyday"

There’s too much focus on if Cena should have won or lost. I don’t think that’s the issue, and there’s compelling arguments for both results.

The issue is that the “storytelling company” consistently told a horrible story with zero direction (by their own admission!) and a bad ending

My perspective is that we do (some of not all) these big wrestling retirements wrong. They shouldn't be doing the big put over the young guy in the final match. They should have already put over a young guy back when they had more juice.

The big retirement show should be a celebration, a party.
