Ian Goldsworthy: anxiety rises as we plan for my son to flee the nest
Neither myself nor my son are ready for him to leave home. Rather than feeling excitement and hope, I worry about his future happiness and making the right choices for him

God I wanted to love this but the ending is just a gigantic mistake all round

Shame as I was fully on board to 3/4 of this and Michael Sheen’s performance of the audiobook is phenomenal

Played Mafia (Traitors basically) at my daughter’s 12th birthday party yesterday

It was a massive hit

I played one game with them. I was a Mafia and they rumbled me immediately. I am basically Hugo at these games🤦‍♂️

Did enjoy being Claudia though (I think the fringe might be beyond me however)

My fave Kubrick anecdote: David Prowse on acting in A Clockwork Orange:
'So you want me to carry Patrick Magee, who weighs 17Olbs, plus the wheelchair, another 30lbs, so 200lbs, down the stairs & then do a dialogue scene?'
'Yeah, you can do it.'
'I know but your name isn't One Take Kubrick, is it?'

“Doctors won’t tell you this, but you don’t need medication for a tapeworm—all you need is the natural power of friction,” Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said as he dropped to the floor, lifted his legs high, and dragged his ass along the White House carpet during a press conference.

Remember in the olden days when initiatives were tested through small pilot schemes to see if they actually worked before being rolled out to vulnerable citizens…?
We want to make sure tutoring isn't the preserve of a lucky few, but accessible to every child who needs it.

AI can help us do that.

Three errors here. First, in confusing some kind of SEND classification (20%) with EHCPs (5.5%).

Secondly in assuming it gives automatic right to DLA. Though there is a strong ECHP/DLA overlap.

Third in assuming that those moving to DLA to PIP never work (it's not an out of work benefit).
"1 in 5 pupils are getting a SEND diagnosis..the vast majority then trip into the benefit system because they get child disability allowance allowance.'

This is completely false from Milburn. He's supposed to be reviewing this issue and he's just making things up. Inexcusable.

It's so exhausting to to be constantly told by American leaders that the defining policy of the 80 odd years during which the US became the most wealthy and powerful country in the history of the world was a grossly unfair failure for them.
US trade secretary Howard Lutnick really not mincing his words here at Davos: "We are here to make a v clear point: globalisation has failed the West and the USA. It's a failed policy. It's what the WEF has stood for, which is, export, offshore, find the cheapest labour in the world."
