The thing about all the Newsom posting is that people are giving themselves negative feelings about the party as a whole based on something at best hypothetical (more likely imaginary) and after the thing doesn’t come to pass, those negative feelings will remain, searching for justification.

I think all of the dooming about "Newsom will be the nominee" is wildly premature, we haven't even hit the midterms yet, but this guy sucks shit and when primary time comes it will behoove the rest of us to pick an alternative that has a good chance and coalesce

1: Trans people have MUCH stronger legal protections in blue states than red. Look at that linear correlation!
2: Every Dem state but HI has a "shield" law for youth gender-affirming care. Every Rep state but AK has a ban.

if you pay taxes, are beholden to the same laws as us citizens, i see no reason why the right to vote should be denied to anyone who pays the federal government money.
I would much rather have a dozen noncitizens vote than millions of citizens not be able to.
