Today, I would like to honor the memory of Roger Y. Tsien, born on February 1, 1952. His legacy lives with all who use his technologies, including calcium sensors, fluorescent proteins, the acetoxymethyl (AM) ester, & many more! #FluorescenceFriday

Check out NASA’s new press release on how we recreated a molecule used by some of Earth’s earliest life forms, helping us understand how life began here and how we might spot signs of life on other planets! Big congrats to first author, @hollyrucker.bsky.social!

A friend asked if I still have videos of Len testing out the prototype of "touch-activated saxophone that can be used to make cats play Careless Whisper," since I pulled all my old content off the hellsite ages ago. And I do!

To avoid the possibility Holocaust remembrance might lead to empathy for migrants, Trump's antisemitism envoy claims Anne Frank "was in Amsterdam legally."

In reality, Margot Frank received a summons to go to a labor camp on July 5, 1942. After ignoring this call, they were in Amsterdam illegally.

Rapid response networks are ready for ICE in Massachuetts, but I'm worried about the complacency of other folks, especially those in positions of power in what are likely to be targeted industries. My CEO, a very well-informed person, asked earnestly the other day, "ICE isn't here now, are they?"

Every time I talk to someone outside of Minnesota, we always spend time on *really* basic things they have don’t understand about what is happening here.

So let’s do a Q&A. What are your most basic questions about what’s going on in Minnesota?

Everybody in higher ed has questions these days. For example, admins ask "how can we get faculty to incorporate AI into their classes?" while faculty ask "can I come in to campus to teach my classes without being abducted by an unlawful paramilitary force?"
