At the very least use the public library if you have one. We've got ebooks, eaudiobooks, WONDERbooks for kids (combination of print + audiobook)... We'll pay to support your favorite authors, and you get to read for "Free". Everyone wins!

if you wanna read a book that makes you feel good about a lot of things read Project Hail Mary. There's gunna be a movie next year too so read it now so you have enough time to forget the details so you can enjoy the movie and not be mad about the changes they have to make.

Preorders really help authors show the industry that books are worth investing in and with a book that’s about being disabled and varying flavours of gay on national television, every little helps and you won’t be charged until next year. Neis.

But this also shows that tech folk have no idea why people watch or read stories to begin with.

Stories crafted by people to explore ideas we can connect with and learn about ourselves, AI can never do that. It can imitate it, but without purpose, it’s completely disposable.

Try: absolutely nothing, and then go support indie bookstores instead 📚

On Yom Kippur many Jewish people in Britain have their phones off to mark the holy day.

As it ends at 723pm, some will hear the tragic Manchester news for the first time.

At that time, please join many of us to send a message of solidarity to British Jews. Thanks Together coalition for proposing.

Have been tagged in to provide the reminder about traumatic video because of the Charlie Kirk shooting video going around!

1. Settings -> Content & Media, turn off "autoplay video"
2. Keep your device sound off while browsing so an accidental activation won't include the sound

throwing a shoe at your enemy’s head and missing: good, funny, does not escalate political tensions across your country, immediately works as a meme

shooting your enemy: bad, not funny, cowardly, escalates political tensions across your country, becomes a conservative talking point immediately

#knitting is so soothing
@mothyandthesquid.bsky.social makes such beautiful yarns! This one is so soft and vibrant and I love working with it. "Great Tit" colourway on 4ply / sock yarn, 75% merino and 25% nylon for durability.

Not bad for an evening's work - making a tiny dent in my accidentally massive stash of threads and fabric - but I hope next time I can do it without stabbing my fingers so much! Quite pleased with this floral piece because I don't do #embroidery as often as I should. #stashbusting #crafter #fibreart

Our government punishes people who are single. Corporations punish those who are single. Finding romantic love shouldn't be a prerequisite for a safety net that you paid into. That's absurd.

For the overwhelming majority of people who practice it, sports is not about competition. It's about social belonging. Once you understand that, the reason why transphobes want to ban trans women from it even outside of competition and even in disciplines like darts is pretty obvious.

Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on.

Quite a lot of it, apparently - I'm feeling much better and one of my friends has decided to start taking multvitamins again after seeing me get better!
No more struggling through! I have given up! And I have started taking a multivitamin supplement every morning. Let's see how much of the sadness is actually scurvy etc.
