remember when we had weeks of hand-wringing over the propriety of making members of trump's first cabinet uncomfortable at restaurants
Feels like it should be a pretty big deal that a Trump supporter physically assaulted a Democratic congressman
Last night, I was assaulted by a man at Sundance Festival who told me that Trump was going to deport me before he punched me in the face. He was heard screaming racist remarks as he drunkenly ran off. The individual was arrested and I am okay.

I know the zone is so flooded with shit that it's a high bar to clear, but the sorts of public conversations - and surely much worse in private - that people who sent their kids to die because we asked for their help are having to have right now are maybe the most disgusting thing about all of this.
Trump:

"NATO has treated the United States very badly. We've never asked for anything. We've never got anything."

Tell that to the families of 850 soldiers from 19 non-US NATO countries who died fighting to defend the United States in Afghanistan - the only occasion Article 5 was ever triggered.

We have to get rid of Jeffries and Schumer. We have to. It’s unendurable that these men are the most prominent Democrats of the moment. They are two of the most broadly undistinguished men I could imagine in politics, zero fire, zero fight, zero zeal, machine politicians with sinecures.

Basically all US policy is at this point about indulging Trump’s irrational obsessions, petty grudges, and corrupt grifts, and then taking secondary and tertiary measures to mask the consequences of those policies.
lol, great, so we're now subsidizing Argentine ranchers at the expense of American ranchers. Seems politically sustainable, no questions from me.

I am once again asking blue staters to understand that red state governments already treat their blue cities like punching bags
Maybe Pritzker can offer to send in the IL National Guard
Details surrounding the bloody string of shootings remain murky, police said.

it is always worth remembering that vance made a conscious decision to be a person of low character. he has eagerly contorted himself into evil for the sake of what amounts to a whiff of power.
This is an actual exchange from a VP who took an oath to defend the constitution and, as a citizen, is expected to abide by the law.

May we one day have accountability for the grotesque lawlessness of this regime.

I'd just like to point out how weird it is that places with hundreds or even thousands of reporters — the NYT, WaPo, CBS, NBC, AP, etc. — are all getting pummeled on every major story by the dozen computerboys at Wired. To fumble the bag this consistently is, at some point, cowardice and a choice.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

political press is doing a real disservice by basically not reporting the nuances of public opinion on deportations, and creating the appearance that most americans support the stephen miller-style gestapo tactics
Should we deport people who have lived here for many years without committing any crimes? 61% no, 24% yes.

Should we should deport people as quickly as possible even if it means more mistakes, or do our best to make no mistakes even if it takes longer?

Quickly: 19%
Minimize mistakes: 74%
