This is one of my favorite stories S.P. has ever written (until recently out-of-print) and this new edition of DAUGHTERS OF CATASTROPHE, née “Muscadines”, looks like a hell of a Halloween read. 🎃
It's alive! Daughters of Catastrophe (formerly Muscadines, here in a new, expanded edition with cover art by legendary Harry O. Morris) is awake and in the world with you. Treat yourself to a beautiful trade paperback or a pay-what-you-can ebook.

A pedophile game show host and gang of third-tier comedians with podcasts helped the Nazis retroactively win WW2. You're not going crazy. This is what actually happened.

We had fucking congressional hearings over Mortal Kombat.

The truly maddening thing is that, unlike when I was a young man in science and the materials and engineering just weren’t there yet, the future is *right there.* The problem is *solved*. What’s holding us back is not just greed, but this bizarre nostalgia, an obsession with petro- masculinity.
Australia has so much electricity from solar power that it is going to start offering free electricity to everyone for at least three hours during the day as the wholesale price of power goes negative

Australia has so much solar that it's offering everyone free electricity
Australia's extensive solar power penetration makes so much energy that the government wants to offer free electricity at peak hours.

Many people are outraged that Trump is demolishing part of the White House. But of course Trump can't do it without help. It's ACECO LLC of Silver Spring MD ("full-service demolition") that is tearing down the People's House. You can call them and let them know how you feel. 1/

Pure fucking evil.
Petro objected to the US bombing a Columbian fishing vessel that had the emergency beacon on because they were broken down, that we subsequently bombed. One Columbian fisherman survived the attack.

This is the official US response to Petro's comments.

This is quite a hed/subhed.
1) Start with Vance. Use strong action verb. Accept the autocratic premise that the “Marines’ Might” are Vance’s to flex.
2) Mention the protest second and absurdly describe them as in the thousands
3) Treat Trump’s strong man use of the military as a partisan scuffle.

Chopper 7 was on the case.

Eruption 6—Evening

Before nightfall, KIRO's Chopper 7 flies above a completely quiet Mount St. Helens. Tracks of pyroclastic flows on the north face stand out stark white amid mud and ash.

At 9:12 p.m., St. Helens comes alive. Ash to 25,000 ft., flows through the breach.

Mount St. Helens's eruptions no longer run first on evening news broadcasts, including CBS's with Walter Cronkite.

Yet, the visuals still stun—a morning eruption captured by Seattle affiliate KIRO's helicopter, mere miles from the crater above the devastated area.
