Absolutely correct
American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

NEW: The Trump administration is ordering states to 'immediately undo' any action to provide full SNAP benefits during the GOP shutdown.

42 million Americans rely on SNAP to eat. Trump is demanding that they go hungry.

Casual reminder that the myth of “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.

Livid.
“Even when Schumer and centrist Democrats have been dealt a strong hand, these are the sort of players who would fold a royal flush.”

If the Senate Dems surrender to Republicans after having all the momentum - let there be no doubt who were responsible for caving. 👇🏻

History has taught us that this is precisely when Donald Trump is most dangerous — and when Republicans turn to voter suppression, election subversion and worse. With the 2026 midterm elections less than a year away, Trump is already plotting his next moves.

Here’s what we all need to prepare for.

I'm still BAFFLED by the @nytimes.com publishing this nonsense. Amplifying what @karaswisher.bsky.social said ...because I'm not listening to it.
Ok I listened to whole thing to be fair. Conclusions:

1. Lightweight guests with jazz hands insights who style themselves to be bold tellers of truth and are simply reductive nincompoops.

Cuomo is a menace, a bully, a predator, a sociopath and nightmare...and he needs to be stopped. Please, super rich people of NYC, please shut him down. Please.
I guess when you've only ever been a politician you just keep trying to get elected to office, it's not like you can get a job as a sex pest or elder killer.

Kind of love this…
So the one to 25,000 bad apples in the NYPD are "self-deporting?" What a great way to weed out the most prejudiced assholes. Congratulations, New York City!

Not bordering on evil.
It’s full on pathologically heinous.
What happened, @nytimes.com? Why not stand by your original headline? Because it’s absolutely an accurate representation of this trash conversation.

To publish this at all should be a fireable offense - but to publish it as women’s rights are being decimated is deeply immoral, bordering on evil

This here. So troubling. I’m dreading the difficult convos I need to have with my “feminist” friends who supported a bully and a predator.
Morris Katz of the Mamdani campaign: "Seeing so many of the Democratic establishment and donor class embrace Andrew Cuomo" was a "real indictment in a lot of ways." #crookedcon2025

And good people don't align with this, no matter what story they tell themselves.

Only bad people still support him.

As a San Francisco feminist organizer, let’s just say I wasn’t always in the Speaker’s good graces, if ever.

The ACA was passed by reducing abortion access, for example.

But she was a winner and this headline is true. She is an icon and a political giant.

As a native San Franciscan, I can tell you that this is indeed a political earthquake beyond what we're used to in the Bay Area.

But I can also promise we'll send you all someone really excellent to fill that unfillable seat. More soon...
Thank you for your service, Nancy Pelosi!
