Current, former, and complicated LDS folks and interfaith friends:

Thanks for trusting me to hold space with you on your religious/spiritual journey, regardless of whatever you're coming or going.

I want to take the time introduce myself.
After three years of unemployment, I finally have a new job I desperately prayed for.

I work in hospitality. And for the most point, it's been a positive experience. The people I work with have taken good care of me as I learn.

It's a magical place of pure comedy.

The world would be immensely better if more religions and their believers had even a tenth of the dedication the Sikhs do to doing good for people with no gatekeeping or expectations of anything other than "you are a fellow human in need and we can help you"
Folks, if you are hungry, please contact your local Sikh gurdwara. Or just show up for langar, which most gurdwaras do several times a week, for a free meal. Lots also do weekly or monthly drives giving out groceries.

No conversion necessary. Feeding anyone who is hungry is a key part of Sikhism.
A lady on TikTok has been calling churches pretending to be a mother with a baby who needs formula and several churches turned her away. But wouldn’t you know that when she called a Mosque (Islamic Center of Charlotte) they immediately said yes.

Noting again for this week's #ComeFollowMe that in the Doctrine and Covenants (section 128) we have a reference to the angel Raphael, the only appearance of that name in our canon, since the only other appearance of Raphael in the Bible is in Tobit in the Apocrypha.

Through my job, I spoke to someone in the Coast Guard who is here in Idaho as part of a work meeting.

He said the Trump administration has ordered all personnel not to appear in uniform publicly because all of them are now being confused with ICE and openly attacked by the public.

Let's unpack.

It's even weirder when you see what the verse is.

I don't know who this man is, but I do know everyone who gets obsessed with that particular verse is a walking basket of red flags.

I finally got a new job!

And now that I've left veterinary medicine, I gotta say: I don't think I'll ever go back.

Not because I didn't love the work. But I can be paid more and be treated better in just about any other industry.

Listen. I appreciate how Peggy pushes back against the perception that it's only LDS women who are eager for the new garments.

Women being listened to and respected blesses everyone. That's the heart of this response. When unmet needs are taken seriously, the entire community benefits.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

That's not very pro-life of them.
The carceral state is generally brutal and evil in the way it treats the human beings it cages, but it’s fine to point out when there are bursts of unusually concentrated or vigorous evil and use it to get people to care.
Pregnant women detained by ICE report horrifying treatment: shackling, solitary confinement, no prenatal vitamins, inadequate food. ICE's own directives and regulations require the agency to avoid detention of pregnant people in the first place. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...

Bad theology I'm currently taking apart in my head:

That suffering has a purpose to teach lessons, and if you don't learn them the first time, God will make sure you learn it by making you repeat the experiences to teach the lesson.
