Jesus Ochoa and Raymundo Gutierrez are named as the murderers of Alex Pretti.

Both with enough experience that the excuse of a new agent panicking won’t fly. These guys are supposedly elite (one was on a SWAT team). Yet they pumped 10 bullets into a man they had just disarmed.

Justice will come.
ProPublica reports that "agents who fired on Minneapolis protester Alex Pretti are identified in government records as Border Patrol agent Jesus Ochoa and Customs and Border Protection officer Raymundo Gutierrez."

If I were a blue state governor, I’d be looking into adding a bunch of tenure lines at my state schools.

I know that seems like “kick ‘em when they’re down,” but it’s more like “let academics who can escape to where they can do real work.”

Builds up your own schools AND protect US academic output.

🚨 New from me: Grant review at more than half of NIH's institutes could be frozen by the end of the year.

That's because crucial NIH grant-review panels are slated to be empty at those institutes by Jan 2027.

A wonky bureaucratic problem with big implications.

A short 🧵
Exclusive: key NIH review panels due to lose all members by the end of 2026
Thirteen of the agency’s advisory councils, which must review grant applications before funding is awarded, are on track to have no voting members.
