Portraying Trump’s cave on the release of the Epstein files as a masterful strategic gambit requires total contempt for the MAGA audience — nothing new for either Trump or his right-wing media supporters.

No one should gloss over how appalling this is. A president who feels this comfortable demeaning women, and so many others, is nothing short of embarrassing and shameful.

Well. Rich people went through the housing bubble and the first online bubble fairly unscathed. They just get to flip the debt over to the governments. And those won't do anything to stop that because that might lead to ✨less capitalism ✨ and that's not good for their career plans.
What baffles me is the utter lack of effort to mitigate any potential damage or to, I don't know, like diversify or whatever. These guys seem stuck in a mindset of "AI OR NOTHING", with a side helping of "RESISTANCE IS FUTILE." Instead of, "We see the bubble, so let's fix things before it pops."
It’s amazing how this story has gone from 0 to 60 in UK press. There’s been no mainstream coverage to date but this morning the story is leading BBC News site & bulletins.

If Trump genuinely wanted the Epstein files released, he could order the Justice Department to release them — rather than go through the circus of a discharge petition.

Trump has already tried time and time again to usurp the power of Congress.

What's stopping him now?

One year ago, Trump and the GOP were bragging about a permanent Trump coalition. Democrats were in a panic about Trump's gains with Latinos, young men, and other parts of our base.

Today, that coalition looks on the verge of collapse. Here's why:

Is Trump’s Coalition Falling Apart Faster Than Anyone Expected?
A year after Trump’s “new coalition” shocked the political world, it’s falling apart. Young men, Latinos, and reluctant 2024 Trump voters are bailing — fast.

President Trump's ongoing attempts to use the military for law enforcement endangers public safety and our rights.

Tell your Senator to co-sponsor a bill that will limit domestic military deployments and enhance oversight.
Congress: U.S. Troops are Not the President's Personal Police Force
Military troops do not belong on our streets and should never be used to police civilians. The Senate must protect our freedoms and pass the Military in Law Enforcement Accountability Act now.

the goal is to change the petition, ideally in a way that protects trump and makes it impossible for people who are in good faith to vote for.

the thing is...johnson lost control of his caucus on this. it's really not clear thune can keep control of his. 1
Mike Johnson says he's talked to Thune & he's "very confident that when this moves forward in the process - if & when it is processed in the Senate, which is no certainty - they will take the time methodically to do what we have not been allowed to do in the House. To amend this discharge petition."

👇🎯 Yes, and also let’s not forget that refusing to seat a duly elected Democratic Rep for 7 weeks was unprecedented authoritarianism & Johnson should’ve been pressured daily by the media to fulfill his oath of office or resign. He’s going to totally get away with that now, which is a national shanda

There have been reports of federal government activity in Ward Four this morning. As of right now, we believe the entities involved are FBI and DEA, not ICE. We’re continuing to work to get official confirmation of this, and to monitor the activity in the area closely. I’ll share more as I’m able.
