If you want to honor her and her work, mask more places, more frequently.
Respect Alice Wong’s call here:
“When I am in public spaces and see most people unmasked either because they think the virus is a hoax, that masking is virtue signaling & a sign of weakness, aren't thinking about it, or that they simply don’t care, I feel like an expendable burden not worth saving.”
COVID Isn’t Going Anywhere. Masking Up Could Save My Life.

You're an interesting species. An interesting mix. You're capable of such beautiful dreams, and such horrible nightmares. You feel so lost, so cut off, so alone, only you're not. See, in all our searching, the only thing we've found that makes the emptiness bearable, is each other.

In case you needed someone to tell you this:
You can do it.
You know what to do.
You are so smart.
You are doing your best.
I see how hard you're trying.
Keep going.
I am so proud of you.

Figure skating world championships were considered to be for men only until 1902, when Madge Syers showed up and took home silver and the ISU went "whooooops guess we need to segregate them."

It happened again in 1992 Olympic skeet shooting: Zhang Shan took gold and then they segregated the event.

For all the USPS's faults, Americans have to realize: It's one of the best postal services in the world, even after being kneecapped by DeJoy. Fight for our postal service, guys. I know I will. It is an essential public good.

Genuinely couldn't believe this figure until I saw the Financial Times confirm it using Meta's own financial reporting data

For THIS

$100 billion is genuinely the kind of money you could "do the impossible" with. Crack nuclear fusion. HIV vaccine. Universal flu vaccine

And they spent it on this
Meta has spent over $100 billion on VR.

I've just been staring at this. Each one of those galaxies has billions of stars, and this photo is just a tiny piece of the night sky. Our brains simply cannot comprehend how big it all is, and how small we all are. 🤯
A new JWST deep field.

All the eight-sided features are local stars in the Milky Way.

Everything else is a galaxy.

EVERYTHING ELSE IS A GALAXY.

Don’t know if it’s the swirling doomsday vibes or a need for novelty or both but I dug this ancient, analog, and completely offline Olympus point and shoot camera out of a drawer and actually bought film for it. Now to see if it still works.

Here's a graphic explaining how the Big Lie was seeded and mobilized into the events of January 6, 2021 through a kind of "participatory disinformation" process. Trump's "war on drugs" refrain could catalyze a similar kind of participatory propaganda and mobilization cycle.

You may not understand why, but the healthcare insurance and PBM contracts YOU have signed for Tesla, SpaceX , @X, along with CEOs of other big companies , have more impact on healthcare costs and quality of care in this country, than anything you can do with DOGE

Or, he could read the tons of research on this by scholars, media, etc.

That says, I’m going to need academics to do a better job communicating with the public. Some do. Many don’t. Folks can’t remain in the ivory tower speaking only to each other. Public facing work is vital, esp now.
News --> James Carville is commissioning pollsters to do a deep dive on how people get their news, in hopes that Dems will overhaul how they communicate with voters, particularly working class ones.

It's a good idea. Carville explains it on our podcast:

Yesterday I walked into a little record store and asked the guy at the counter if he had the new Kim Deal record. He smiled, handed me a copy, and we briefly discussed the artwork and how it differs from the classic 4AD aesthetic. It’s literally been years since I’ve had an interaction like that.

The best bit of advice I’ve ever been given by organizers that I’ve worked with in the past is you do not need to reinvent the wheel.

organizations and groups already exist doing things that will be of material help as the deportations and the assaults on our freedoms really get going.
This is the "work" we all need to do now. As @brainnotonyet.bsky.social and many others have said, nobody is coming to save us, we have to step up and do what we can to save our communities, our vulnerable, and ourselves.

pundits keep telling me that trump’s wins aren’t related to racism and yet when he wins there sure seems to be people who see it as license to be extremely racist
