By the way… really enjoying reading all the poetry others recall
It demonstrates the power of “art” to inspire the masses

I always judge myself as someone who lacks appreciation of art, but tonight is helping to “amend that view”

BIG Thank-you to all who are contributing❤️

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same

Excellent thread
I just wished more MSM did good research such as this to de-bunk the myths.
🧵Are Afghan refugees really being prioritised over British veterans for housing?

This claim has been doing the rounds, perpetuated by the Matt Goodwins of this world! 🙄

Let’s take a look at 2 different articles pushing the same narrative…

I guess… a racist?
As an illustration, I just debated a young "thinktank researcher" who said the fall in white British % was concerning, not for racist reasons, because we wanted to think that people we passed in the street had a "familial connection" to the country.

Seriously, who the fuck thinks like this???
Have written up some of my thoughts about the increasingly sinister use of 'non-UK born' and 'white British' in the British press. The obsession with 'white British' citizens over other British citizens harms all of us and needs to be called out.

This is an excellent analysis of how “facts” get twisted
And we must all push back on them
🚘 FREE DRIVING LESSONS FOR REFUGEES?!

If you've seen those headlines and felt a twinge of outrage, you're not alone.

But let's take a closer look at who's actually getting these lessons and why.

Learn lessons from Europe:
France Ctre Right try to out do Le Pen, and consumed
Germany Ctre Right try to out do AfD and consumed

Canada & Aus Ctre Left have shown the way
Starmer must follow it
(ie be more Attlee; less Ref Light)
Canadian and Australian right wing leaders both lose their seats within weeks.

Meanwhile UK Labour thinks going to the right is the way to win, even though the right reject them and the left are alienated by them.

Read the f*ing room.

More importantly, feel the threat from progressive voters.

Excellent summary of the impacts from Brexit on the UKs economic performance; and the potential for similar impact on US‘s
Welcome to Brexitland, US, in which waywardness is described as "strategic uncertainty", restrictions on trade boost performance and self harm is lauded....

Spoiler, it does not end happily

Precisely that, and we have witnessed this attempt to out-populist far-right parties in quite a few other countries as well. It doesn't work, it's neither necessary nor desirable. In the meantime, progressive voters (still the majority) are left without any parliamentary voice & representation.

1) this sums up the difficulties here (and how thick the people on that side of the debate are)
2) I believe this now makes the situation for females far more dangerous (as outlined by the intelligent grown up in this clip)
This moment when the penny drops that trying to implement bathroom bans is an impossibility for the former Tory Chief Secretary Simon Clarke is delicious.

Here's a zero-gravity parody song about this week's coverage of #BlueOrigin's rocket launch. Sorry we forgot to turn the clicker off but we were more worried about getting the pitch (nearly) right. It's called "Flight from Earth" based on the anthemic #Firework by #KatyPerry 🎇🎶

The reduction in US exports has happened far quicker than i expected
This must mean the US will be in a recession from Apr, but will take a couple of months before anyone notices from govt stats - which are likely to be buried as by then Trump is likely to be full on dictator
Thanks to Trump’s tariffs, American exports are falling off a cliff.

In March 2025, loaded exports through the Port of Los Angeles dropped 15.02%, while empty containers surged 23.15%.

A clear sign that ships are heading back to Asia without US goods.

That’s brutal for American exporters.

@matthewstadlen.bsky.social did a v good job attempting to hold the BBC to account on this
We must all act in a similar way and call it out when it happens

Hope (not hate)❤️
I cannot believe this guy is being platformed on the BBC.

he's like nick griffin with a posh accent & more syllables, making Racism Great Again for the middle classes.

be wary of this chap england. for me is one of the most rabid racists of our time and supporter of genocide in the middle east.

This is an excellent analysis of our education system; but more over: the UKs class system. Whereby the minority with power use that power for the causes that promote their minority, at the expense of the majority.
Until this changes, I’m afraid the UK will forever be like it.
