Sorting stuff into albums, I found my favorite Hummingbird video. It was in September 2022 not long before they migrated south. I did actually live outside that month. 🪶🌱 #birds #FlowerReport
The House Finches decided to try the finch feeder and stayed a while. I wonder if they could be these two juveniles on the right from August. Then and now they seemed like siblings still hanging out together. 🪶

We captured 18 birds today and then we surveyed the colony for bird flu, which we thankfully saw no evidence of.

It was windy late yesterday afternoon and the Northern Mockingbird found their favorite perch in a tall red cedar and was the highest bird around. It enjoyed the ride! Ttrying to follow it was a challenge. I stopped recording and the Mockingbird stayed for a long time. 🪶

This is just part of a Starling and Common Grackle flock that has been making the rounds through the pastures and tree tops for miles around lately. 🪶

Lifer! 🎉
It's freezing and windy but I went outside a while. Looking at the pics I found a sweet baby in the bird's favorite low crape myrtle bush! It looks like the immature Clay-colored Sparrow and is not supposed to be anywhere around here. It was with the sparrows, finches and cardinals group.🪶

My friend Mr Cardinal and I were not happy with the cold front sweeping in today! I bundled up for 56° F with 10-15 mph winds and it was still shivery. I'm not sure where he found a fluffy down extra layer. We both called it a day around 4:00 pm. 🪶

Yesterday was a warm day ahead of colder ones. I watched these birds for hours while hearing constant chatter nearby. When I submitted an eBird list from Merlin there were 35 species! A Meadowlark and a Lincoln's Sparrow!

One of my favorite housemates is the healthy population of Spotted Least Geckos (Sphaerodactylus millepunctatus) that patrol @casabentbill.bsky.social looking for delicious insects.
A Central American endemic, these are usually difficult to find.
This one was only about 23mm long.
