Reminder: The State Department's reported plans for an office of “remigration” stem from a far-right policy that calls for “soft-style ethnic cleansing.”

It is rooted in the debunked Great Replacement theory and favored by the European far-right and White nationalist extremists.
The worrying backstory of Trump’s proposed “Office of Remigration”
The State Department is reportedly creating an office for "remigration": a far-right policy that calls for what has been described as "soft-style ethnic cleansing."

This is so important it hurts. This is the tiny area of a massive sprawling city that Trump is attacking and the entire propaganda machine is churning to make us believe more is happening. Don’t fall for the lies.

Also cannot be emphasized enough: Barack Obama successfully negotiated the shutdown of Iran's nuclear program. It exists today because Trump deliberately tore up that agreement.

The deaths happening right now can be laid at his door.
Israel aggressively bombing Iran—unlike two incidents of strikes in 2024, which followed Iranian missiles launches against Israel—is in part another consequence of a weak, chaotic US president.

Worth noting that this didn't happen under Biden, Obama, or Bush, despite Israel talking about it a lot.

Trump said he wanted a deal with Iran. I guess he couldn’t convince his good friend Netanyahu. No respect. Looks weak.

That’s right. They want Mexican Americans to be ashamed of being Mexican. They’re leaning on the implicit racist belief of white people - including too many liberals - that Mexican heritage makes someone presumptively dangerous or criminal. It’s nativism and we shouldn’t give them one single inch.
They’re attacking latinos, flying the Mexican flag is about not bowing down to racists and the fascist administration it’s not about being proud to be “American” it’s about being proud of the things they are trying to demonize about you.

On what planet is this not assault?

Deliberate and willful abuse of power by that officer.
This reminds me of the time Sarah Huckabee Sanders was politely asked to leave a restaurant.

I live in the mid-west corn land of southern IL.

Land sits ununsed most of the year, between October and May.

No cover crops, no winter wheat. Nada. Just cropped off corn stalks.
The US already devotes more than 40 million acres to growing corn for ethanol fuel production.

If only ~1/3 of that land were converted to solar PV, it could generate enough electricity to cover the entire country's electricity needs.

I am a government worker. We know where the inefficiencies are, but they are few and far between. The systems work, albeit sometimes slow, but that is for a reason: so we dont break important shit and we get things right 99.867% of the time.
Conspiracy theorists, and conspiracy theory-style thinking, is a major problem.

That was evident in the takeover of Twitter, and even more so in the takeover of the US government.

Convinced they’re the victim of dastardly conspiracies that don’t exist, find no evidence, mostly plow ahead anyway.
Interesting piece which reveals a lot of the tech bro ignorance of government: DOGEr comes in, expects to find lots of inefficiency, is at least willing to acknowledge he was wrong unlike the hard core ideologues.

FIFA needs to remove the US as a host and give it to Canada and Mexico only.
we just straight up can't have the World Cup here honestly. or the Olympics. it's not safe for the teams, coaching staff, fans, nobody
VANCE: We'll have visitors from close to 100 countries. We want them to come, we want them to celebrate, we want them to watch the games. But when the time is up, they'll have to go home, otherwise they'll have to talk to Secretary Noem

seems kind of weird that the vice president of the united states is openly supportive of german neo-nazis!
Not only is he going out of his way to strengthen the European far right, that claim about the Berlin Wall is beyond absurd.

This is a broad strategic alignment away from the liberal democracies toward the global right.
