I’m not going to mention any names, but I will say that it’s very easy to charm scary narcissists actually if you talk to them very warmly, listen respectfully while they speak, make a ton of eye contact, and present your ideas enthusiastically without actually saying you don’t like their ideas.

If we got wind that some world-class Brookings scholar was due to release a book on, say, national health insurance that made an original contribution to knowledge in the field, someone at Heritage would quickly draft a short paper rehashing the same old talking points attacking national health insurance that had been around forever and release it the same day as the Brookings study. I absolutely get this because I went through it between 2019 and 2021: the full round of anger, denial, bargaining, depression and acceptance. And what I ended up with is: politics is not real, 98% of daily politics is meaningless words that mean little more than “Fuck you” and “We decide”.

This is one of the changes in the UK media landscape that should be more remarked on: the fact that being a very open, proud, outright racist is no longer a bar to being a pundit on some TV stations (in this case GBN and Talk TV).
Lucy White advocates a ban on "non-natives" from office, citing Rishi Sunak and Priti Patel.
So she is referring to UK-born ethnic minority citizens. (Her argument would apply equally to Shabana Mahmood, Kemi Badenoch, Suella Braverman and others)
