Well yes, but I think we've also almost exhausted mockery and satire - how do you make fun of people who speak like your deranged uncle who had an iron scaffolding bar fall on his head, who look like their faces are melting, and are called such absurd things to begin with?
This isn't just a casual observation. Fascism scholars have long made this point. It's why calling them "weird" was a more effective strategy than talking about the prices of eggs. Fascism is an aesthetic political movement - you need to make people feel embarassed and horrified by it.

I'm sure our European allies will see this as a good faith gesture, bigging up our huge bollocks in teaming up with the US to seize an *empty* tanker, and not as us making clear that whatever we might be saying now, we'll help the US annex Greenland in the same way as well.

I don't think I can remember a technology in my lifetime that's prompted governments to basically suspend existing law -- copyright, obscenity, incitement -- like genAI/LLMs. they seem prepared to gamble everything on it. feels quite final.

The other thing about AI that seems remarkable: nearly every new technology has had an attendant moral panic along with it. Video nasties, the internet itself, new drugs, etc etc. With AI, which we know has helped teenagers kill themselves and made others mentally ill, there seems barely a murmur.

Put it this way: porn forums have put blocks on the sharing of AI material because they don't know where they stand legally, let alone ethically with it, and they would never have allowed anything of anyone under 18 to begin with. That's how fucked this is.
This is really bad; Grok is now going into is third day of regularly producing nonconsensual deepfake pornography and nobody is doing anything about it. The "Mechahitler" and "white genocide" episodes were stopped much more quickly. I suppose this tells us all about relative priorities.
