I am at least one million internet years old. Lefty leftist. Art, math, preferably both at once. Always knitting, usually socks. Western Canadian in Ottawa. I don't know how everyone else sounds interesting in these things. She/they.
helped my aunt make rullapylsa today, despite the fact it won't be ready until the day after I fly home.

the recipe she's working from is old and creaky enough that it called for saltpetre, which is a little trickier to locate these days. Internet and butcher consultation to the rescue!

LUGGAGE GET.

I can't say I enjoyed my suitcase not arriving with me, but the process of getting it back to me was, honestly, almost nice. They emailed me that it arrived, they delivered it (!) and that was that.

Now to let out about a hundred deep breaths.

I am finally safely in Edmonton.

My luggage, however, is still in Toronto.

The nice lady at the luggage claim is optimistic it will arrive tonight and be delivered tomorrow. I'm too tired to doubt.

Flopf.

I apparently strangled even more puppies in a previous life than I realized, because my rescheduled flight is now re-rescheduled to 3:30 pm.

As a token of their regard for delaying me from 9am until 3:30pm, I have received a meal voucher for fifteen dollars.

The airport remains cursed.
November 20, 2025 at 4:09 PM
the trip has started more cursed than I would prefer, starting with realizing I had forgotten my phone in the apartment two blocks into the trip to the airport, then realizing I was locked out of the building and would need to wake the super at 3:15am to let me in.

i think if you want to have those disgusting LED headlights on your car, you should have to do a test where they blast you point blank with your own headlights and then you have 15 seconds to successfully complete some sort of vision-based task, and if you can't do it they push your car off a cliff

I did it, lovelies. I fly out to Edmonton in under 24 hours and have a squillion ends to work in on my return, but it's finished. The flare at the end of the sleeves is ridiculous, but that's what I was wanting. Considering the sleeves are entirely off-piste, I'm happy with what I managed.

I'm really glad I read this. Some of you may find it a meaningful read, too.
Had a great convo this week where I introduced someone to the term “passive suicidal ideation” and he hadn’t had a word before for his experiences.
So I thought I’d take this moment to share with everyone in case it missed you too.

I am not always very attached to being alive
Chronic, passive suicidal ideation is like living in the ocean. Let’s start talking about how to tread water.

me: I half-rouse from deep sleep, roll over to a delightfully cool spot in bed, flip the pillow over, find a perfectly comfortable way to arrange my limbs.

my brain: let's consider some social situations for your February vacation that would create pure, nuclear-grade anxiety in you.

More musings from the Deity series. Always wanted to paint a sphinx of some sort but never have, they’ve always fascinated me. So why not make one for the series (or several actually). The anatomy was a fun design challenge, thanks for looking!
