If we don’t signal our virtue every now and again - then so many believe they are utterly alone - “virtue signalling” is not there to say “aren’t I good” but “there are more of us than you might imagine” and “fuck you for demanding that only the brutal and the bullies may speak”

I'm so sick of discourse from supposed allies about where trans people went wrong.

Where we "went wrong" is that billionaires spent unimaginably large sums to attack us repeatedly and major media outlets have spent a decade piling on.

@quinnypig.com do you have any good guidance for submitting AWS SLA claims? I could see that being popular right about now

it's kinda weird that all the software i am expected to use for work are all written by distributed teams, go, python, postgres, linux, chrome, k8s etc

and despite being told "the best teams work in an office together" i don't know of any software i use that's actually written that way

chocolate is good for some applications. chocolate does not go in everything. too much chocolate all at once will kill you. some people are allergic to chocolate.
i work on llms and they are my preferred subject in general and i find their invasion of all discourse annoying. i would cheerfully retvrn to an era when normal people had never heard of ai, except that this would also mean budgets were lower and i would not be employed dealing with them
part of my resentment towards LLMs is to do with them crowding out anything else we could be talking about. there are so many things I could be reading to get better at my craft but I'm presented with "you should actually get worse at it on purpose because nothing matters any more"

Well well well.

Looks like the EHRC going into damage limitation mode and that the Slimes story was essentially wish fulfillment bullsh!t.

As I suspected this morning.

But the damage to our mental health is already done - it even got to me today.

Fun fact: There is not a single District in the UK with below 60% support for increased renewables. Even people who are climate science deniers want more renewables.

All sensible parties should hammer reform for this.
Reform's Richard Tice has written to energy firms to inform them of the 'political risk' of Reform to renewables

Labour official: “Reform are now actively trying to discourage businesses from investing in clean energy in the UK...

"They are disgracefully... undermining the UK's national interest."

There's not a single crime in the history of the UK that would have been prevented by a bathroom bill. Not one

Bathroom bills aren't about safety, they're about trying to exclude LGBT people from public life. That's it

My analysis of the EHRC "interim update" is out — in the form of an FAQ — laying out my thoughts on the state of the law, and how employers and service providers can best remain trans-inclusive.

Just my academic thoughts, not legal advice, but hopefully of use.

What does the EHRC interim update mean for workplaces and service providers?
An interim EHRC update instructs UK orgs to segregate Trans+ people in public single-sex spaces - how much weight does it carry and what does it mean for workplaces and service providers?

If an MP is doing the rounds insisting that trans women have to use men's toilets, the interviewer needs to be asking what law says so, and what the consequences would be for breaking said law. At the moment what we have is a supreme court ruling and *advice* flowing from that.
